I was born in San Diego on 21 December 1951. I have 2 older sisters ( Linda and Joan), 1 twin sister (Marilyn) and a younger brother (Robert) who all live in Connecticut. My father was in the navy and our family traveled throughout the us until his retirement in 1962, when we moved to Plainfield, Connecticut. I had a normal upbringing with a loving and supportive family. Both of my parents are gone now, and I still miss them very much. I graduated from high school in 1970 and entered the navy in April of 1971. In the navy I studied electronics for 2 years as a fire control technician (working on the radar and other equipment that aimed the ship's guns). I left the navy in august 1977 and went to work for Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (University of California, Berkeley) as an Electronics Engineering Technologist in September 1977.
