I just joined a little while ago. This is my first trip into the forums on this site. If it runs the way the others I've seen go, the lack input might be good. So many folks turn these into a circus that they miss the point of exchanging ideas and information. I've checked out a couple of the other topics and they don't seem to be doing very well with the quality of the content but they do have a little more quantity. I'd be happy to chat if you like, pick any topic you want. I live in a rural area, some might call it a bit remote, but I like it, it's peaceful. I hope to hear from you,

I wish I could tell you 'all' good things about the forums on this site. I have been a member since the 14th, and have already had to show a side of me that I wasn't expecting to show on line. I will give it some more time B4 I start promoting 'Mingles'.
I am glad you stopped by to drop a few lines. I have a feeling that this thread will be 'rudely' interrupted as was another one I commented on today. So I will warn you ahead of time. I started out with the 'intention' of conversing in order to meet people and make friends. You know, share my thoughts with like minded people. I am not going to allow my first on-line 'run in' dictate how I am going to communicate moving forward. (That's what they want me to do I guess) Life is too short.
I was watching the news on the fires that are burning in California... I can't imagine living there and having to go through what those people are going through. I work in the mortgage/real estate field and as with hurricanes Katrina & Rita, we will be preparing for more disaster assistance in the near future. As if times weren't hard enough already.
(Anyone?)
What are your thoughts on the fires burning in California?
Is there an 'end' in site?

I have never messaged someone with interest without first knowing their character through forums and chat. What a fantastic screening tool! Anyone who has a horrible dating experience from this sight has no excuse. The tools are there people...use em

Yep, when the wind calms down and the fuel is used up.

I think the fires are terrible. I have a daughter in CA, but not where the fires are, Thank God! She says the smoke travels so far. and that. also is bad. I lost my home to fire once and I know what it means to lose things you care about. Yes those people will need our help, but I don't mind helping, because people have helped me when I have needed help. Hopefully, there is an end in sight, but not before a lot of damage has been done. Dreams will have died and hope may have gone. Just as the tornadoes that killed the 26 people and left many homeless here in IN. Many moved, selling empty lots, because their dream there was killed. Hopefully all these people can gain the strength and hope to go forwards.
On this site, as others, I have seen many thing going on. I read a lot, just sit back and watch the play. Once in a while I make a remark. Being a member of this site gives me a right to post on a Forum just as other do. I have a saying, "Some people like me, some people might not like me, but those that don't like me don't know me." I have had many people tell me that you are nothing like I heard you were. You are the exact opposite of what they say you are like. I said those are the poeple that have never talked to me, and made a judgement without knowing me. We were brought up to treat everyone how we want to be treated and I have never stopped doing that no matter how someone treats me. If someone is rude to you, it is their problem and not yours. They are the rude person and you are still the nice person. Unfortunately, sometimes those rude people push us to act differently. In that case, we are still the nice people, only acting rudely, because being rude is not our character. Acting and being are two different things.
I welcome you to this site. So far to me, it's better than a couple of other sites I am on, except I see a few of those people coming over here on this site. I hope Mr Mingles keeps it from getting as bad as it is on the other sites.

Sounds like a personal problem to me, lol.
(I agree - everyone has a right to be here.)

Hey Tck, what if we kinda know you and still like you?

Hey Getright127 you got it right, they just weren't listening prob. We all signed up on here and we can all post! Let's go find something else to post on. Send me a message if you want.

The fires in CA. will burn out sometime, the winds will have to lift and with luck they'll get a little rain. I know when I was down south they use to burn every year to keep the fuel to a minimum. The thought was that with controled burns you could avoid the big ones. But in CA they are perhaps more concerned about the enviormental impact. So they don't use the controlled burn idea. But now the've got an impact!
I fought just one forest fire when I was young. Not again if I have a choice. When you're on the fire line you realize just how insignificant ones efforts are. I watched the fire 50 yards to my right and to my left but had no idea what was going on in the big picture. When the wind shifted we had to pull out and we lost a Cat. bulldozer because it was to slow to get it out. That was almost 30 years ago and I'm sure the firefighters are better trained now. I was on a lumber crew and volenteered to help. I had no training to fight fires, they said go with these guys and do what they tell you to do. Not my brightest idea!
I hope when this is all over the insurance companies can get in quickly and help these folks get their lives headed back in the right direction. Those poor folks will need any and all help they can get.
Good luck on your thread, I hope you don't give up on the forums yet. Remember if we give up it means they win! hehe
Anytime you want feel free to drop me a line. It's good to chat with you.

I thought the forums were pretty active lately.

Love 'em, especially with the right sauce.

to the question, I have always held that opnm the net, the way to get involved is get involved. I am much more reserved in person and I am sure that must have surprised some when we met at different parties but in here, well I like to let it all hang out sometimes.
that can be dangerous too, people like to hide behind anonymouse profiles and fake names. BTW when I was chatting in Ares, they alllow anyone to buil a room and have access to IP ady's so there is no such thing as trolling. Plus they can bounce you rifght out. Lol, I found that out real fast in the Italian site when I kept fliriting with some woman from Italy. Hey, all I was doing was trying to pick up my Italian a bit.
I found the women from Argentina to be really frackin cool. most spoke English and were educated.
I wish you folks lotsa luck. I just use the site for friendly fun now. If asnd when someone happens along and it clicks ok. Actually I ran into a profile that lives but 4 miles from me. I am hoping we have some cocktails soon in this Bistro near us.
