I have two teenagers, and they are totally different from each other. My daughter now 18 is a real angel, she's never given me any problems. My son is turning 17 soon, and he is a handfull. It's hard raising teenagers, but it can be fun too.

I have good news, and I have bad news...
good news - They outgrow it soon enough.
bad news - you start missing their "childhood/adolescent" years when they do.
My son will be 23 in Sept. and my daughter is hitting 19 same month. I miss those days when they would run to 'Mom' because she could always conquer the world "for them"...now, they still run to me...only difference is they want me to "go out" and conquer the world "for me." ...don't ya just love them...lol.

Well my Peanut will be 15 soon. She is starting high school this August. Columbine even. Yes, the high school where the shootings took place. I still have some time to go through with her being a teen but so far she is a wonderful. All As in school and tells me everything. Even things I don't want to know. LOL
My Dad survived my teen years and believe me, I put him through hell. What can I say. I've always been in the Mafia. LOL

I have two teenagers totally different- let them make mistakes and feel pain - it sounds cruel but it will get them ready for the real world. Don't ever compare them. If they get dumped, hold one hand and have chocolate ice cream in the other! If they cry, give them Kleenex but don't give advice unless they ask and be a role model. You have an enormous amount of influence about how you deal w/rude drivers, health issues and personal relationships- they will (I have heard this) in a few years realize how "smart" you were but never admit it to you. They have seen me struggle financially and emotionally with a stressful job & come out on top because I don't play the "victim" - I deal with stuff as it comes my way and prayer often!

My daughter is 21 and she's still in school, not pregnant, on drugs or selling her butt on Main St. I survived and I did something right!
(and by the way, I did it as a single dad).

Depends on what you mean by survive... my oldest valedictorian in middle school and an angel graduated 5th in a class of 463 in High school but at right around 16-17... lost her damn mind...was only for a bit tho... now my son is 14 and is filled with them testoserone rages at times..arghhhhhh .. and with my youngest, a tweenager, I doubt my sanity will survive and at times I htink I wonder if THEY will with the way they can pick on my last nerve yanno?? so its a 50/50 thing .. you might survive, per se, but you could lose you sanity ...lol

You'll survive. Went through it with four. 13-18 going on 30. LOL Two, no problems and two, whew. But they all turned out excellent. They go through the stage "I hate you, You don't love me", "don't touch me", "you don't care","don't kiss me", "you don't or wouldn't understand." Remember that you were that age once. Though you'll never convince them of that. Its a tough time. They will return to (normal?) the fold. So just be diligent and don't waver and give in. In the end it's worth it. I would do it all over again. Miss it sometimes.
