I am now looking at dates in mid 2009. If you have attended any of the past RocK parties then you know what I am talking about. comments ideas & suggestions & proposed dates are welcome.

Well...I never made it to the first Rochester party, cos I was way out in Cali----I'm in Michigan now, so there may be a better chance, but can't be sure however.....Verita and her husband are both in NY....um....Rochester IS in NY....right? lol

What it yourparent who helped in the cabin with the food and stuff? Charming folks....you Mother was a sweetheart. I think the itinerary was great. Cinco de mayo weekend was cool and all the people made it a most memorable event.

I missed Rock I since there was another party going on in Vegas. Smaller, but we had Brandi! LOL But did make Rock II or was that III?

Since this would be almost a year away there's a possibility of making it. Too early to tell now.

Midsummer is the best. at least in my thoughts. Late spring, weather is still kinda iffy. late summer, u start getting rochester's fall weather coming out.. like end of june, or mid july.

Well after talking with Scorpio, he was vehment about it being around Cinco De Mayo.. I can coordinate the party around that weekend or we can wait a week or so & have it around the Lilac Fest which offers stuff to do during the day before the party.. Any more thoughts on this?

Well folks, looking at a calandar, Cinco de Mayo falls on a Tuesday in '09. If they follow a schedule similar to this year's, the 2009 Lilac Festival should run May 8-17 and the opening weekend would be the weekend after Cinco de Mayo with the Lilac parade that Saturday morning.

I vote for the weekend of May 8-10 or 7-10 if we are going to do the picnic on Friday. Those who are interested can do the parade and festival Sat. morning/afternoon then whatever is planned for Sat night. I know in the past we have gone to Jillians Sat. night but we found out in 04 that the night club was closed.

<----plans on getting married in May of 2009 - ohhh the good ol' times in rochester....still miss it - hope you guys have fun if you have it!

OK, a potential date has been decided upon for the RocKchester Party it will be the weekend of May 7th through the 10th of 2009. With the Fun & excitement begining Friday the 8th at 1PM at the Mingles BBQ bash, & as usual it is for just us minglers & our guests.

Alas I did forget something, Upon research into the rumor that Jillian's the place where the Saturday night festivities were traditionally held was closed, proved to be true today. So now a search is on for the replacement of the Jillian's venue. Every effort will go into the search for another Venue that offered as much as Jillian's did. I will spend every last penny crawling(lol) from place to place in search of the new Party venue. Details of the search will be forthcoming.

Oops I did it again. Hotel amenities include an indoor pool, Jaccuzi, fitness room, 2 bars and a resturant, also it is with in walking or staggering distance of some resturants & bars( includes pool tables & dart boards & multi tv's playing sports)

We did the BBQ in the park on Friday for RoCk '04 too and it worked out great. When I tried to do a RoCk '05, I wanted to move the BBQ to Saturday and make it the main event due to lack of venue for Sat. night (Jillian's closed). Response was minimal and RoCk '05 never came to be. I say keep it on Friday. Besides we're changing the hotel and Sat. night venue, wouldn't want to change too much.

Minglers have had parties in LasVegas, Atlantic City, Orlando, Cedar Point, Toronto, NH, and probably a half dozen other places over the years. In my first year I went to 3-4 of them and had a blast meeting all the people I had been chatting with online.

It doesn't matter where the party is, the more important thing is the people. The people make the party, not the location.

Scorpio.. well times have changed & so has pricing...& I beleive that this hotel provides much more than the last one, it is also a bit more centrally located. With the last hotel, it was with in walking/staggering distance of Jillian's, & considering that I am researching other venues to replace the now closed & defunct Jillian's the other hotel did not seem as viable an option. Also if you split the cost of 140(rounded up) by 2 it is $70.00 each if by 3 then, $47.00 & by 4 it is $35.00 per person, so if you want to go that way it is still a good deal.

I have to admit, every so often theres one or two who has such beauty and a real live letter that it just draws me in. So I've written back and try to be friendly. You never know and sometimes it really does make me wonder if some of these seemingly beauties with brains(not the translated ones) are feeling trapped or something.

Not that its going to happen for me but look at some of the things that HAVE happened in Mingles with Americans and Aussies and Guami moved here. I swear, I have 2 more semesters of nursing to help with and once my daughter has her Degree, I am not letting anything stop me. I'm going abroad and see a few things.

So I went to a place near the beach Friday night caled Nola's BBq, though there are no bamboo cages, they do have a raised platform for dancing, a good sized main dance floor, and a bar @ either end and one outside, Next place I have been to is called Taylor's it is a bit smaller, but has a long bar & a 2ndary dance club, the main part is 80's music..More places to follow...Also please let me know what kind of venue you'd all like...

lol...I can certainly vouch for scorp's insight on going to the Rock, Tante...even though I haven't been to the other minglin' bashes, the Rock has certainly made me real to those who didn't know what or where Guam was...lol... So, in a word--->>>Go! You won't regret it, girlfriend...unless of course, you're not sure you can have fun altogether, which I'm sure won't be a problem...lol....

By the way, Scorp, if you haven't already been overseas, you will have a blast, my friend...especially when you head down south as you enter each country....it seems the south is the most beautiful of places if you really want to get to the heart of the people in those countries...not to mention cleanest..lol.

Hey folks... Met Manta down at Nola's this past weekend. I'd been there under 2 previous owners and the location is great, walking distance from the beach! I really liked what the new owners have done with the place (even if it doesn't have cages to dance in and video games and bowling lanes, etc). They turned a tiny parking area into a huge outdoor patio area with it's own bar and a stage for a band. I think it's a definate possibility for our party venue.

Oh wow...let's do islandstyle theme if you guys choose that venue...will feel like I'm back home..heehee

Today I was at a place called Marges, down on the water front, it has its own private beach and a bbq place across the road.... This may make a good substitution for the party in the park... any ideas or would y'all like to do the park thing?

Having been to Marges in the past, I believe that location is tooooo small for our purposes. I think sticking with the tradional BBQ thing is a better choice. Have you thought about which park you want to use for the picnic/BBQ? You have used Mendon ponds and Durand Eastman and I used PowderMill park. Mendon Ponds is closest to hotel location but Eastman would be closer to Nola's. Just a thought...

As for Band or DJ/Karoake, I'll vote for DJ/Karaoke, that way minglers can participate as well.

AAhh the smells of the changing seasons is in the air.. time to start planning for this Party in May 2009 from the 7th - 10th, as posted there is a hotel listed that is going to be the HQ for this shindig, also I am currently looking for a DJ Karoke type set up for the BBQ on the 8th(hot dogs, hamburgers/cheeseburgers & accompanying condiments supplied - anything special let me know or bring it with you). As far as Saturday night goes, I am thinking that Taylor's is going to be the replacement venue for Jillian's, but as always the research will continue to just make sure you all get the quality party Atmosphere RocK is known for. Thoughts, comments, suggestions on how to improve or make your RocK experience more memorable, please let me know.

Ronnie, he's serious for the moment, many people wait to see who else plans on going to an event before they confirm attendance. Besides we still have over 6 months until the party. A lot can appen in 6 months. In 04, there were several folks that couldn't confirm attendence until the Friday of the party. I didn't know they were coming til they called for directions to the park in the middle of the day.

You all know I'll be there. Even if I can't afford the hotel, I'll hang there until you all boot me out. If I have to work Friday, I just won't get to the picnic until 6pm. Stopped by the local brewery today, High Falls Brewing, they offer tours to groups of 5 or more for free, so if any 1 would like to take a tour of the brewery I can set it up. I am thinking early Saturday afternoon, before the main party commences. around 1ish or 2ish. Feed back? interest? Let me know..Also if any one that is coming needs special arrangements such as babysitters or has special needs, let me know, so that I can get things rocking.
