"Love feels no burden, thinks nothing of trouble, attempts what is above its strength,
pleads no excuse of impossibility. It is therefore able to undertake all things, and it
completes many things, and warrants them to take effect, where he who does not love would faint and lie down."
Thomas a Kempis
And when he wrote that, he must have been moved by a woman, who carried that verse from Shakespear, upon her heart, like a flower carries the pollens of life and it's sweet nectar within it's pistol..

"The character that takes command in moments of crucial choices has already been determined by a thousand other choices made earlier in seemingly unimportant moments. It has been determined by all the little choices of years pastby all those times when the voice of conscience was at war with the voice of temptation, [which was] whispering the lie that it really doesnt matter. It has been determined by all the day-to-day decisions made when life seemed easy and crises seemed far awaythe decision that, piece by piece, bit by bit, developed habits of discipline or of laziness; habits of self-sacrifice or self-indulgence; habits of duty and honor and integrityor dishonor and shame." Whether or not you are a country music fan, this is truly the work of a deep thinker, and highly intelligent person.
So simple, yet so profound. I wonder if all that weed he smoked had anything to do with it.
Words of wisdom from that famous "philosopher Willie Nelson" on his 75th birthday:
'I have outlived my dick!'

""Statesmen ... may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand... The only foundation of a free Constitution, is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People, in a great Measure, than they have it now, They may change their Rulers, and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting Liberty. ... U.S. treaty signed by President Adams. In 1797 the United States entered into a treaty with Tripoli, in which it was declared:
"As the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquillity [sic] of Musselmen . . . it is declared . . . that no pretext arising from religious opinion shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries." This treaty was written under Washington's presidency, and it was ratified by Congress under John Adams, signed by Adams

"My fellow Americans: Over 350 years ago, a small band of Pilgrims, after gathering in their first harvest at Plymouth Colony, invited their friends and neighbors, who were Indians, to join them in a feast of thanksgiving. Together they sat around their bountiful table and bowed their heads in gratitude to the Lord for all that He had bestowed upon them. This week, so many years later, we, too, will gather with family and friends and, after saying grace, carve up a turkey, pass around the cranberries and dressing, and later share slices of pumpkin pie. We Americans have so much for which to be thankful. ... We will give thanks for these and one thing more: our freedom. Yes, in America, freedom seems like the air around us: It's there; it's sweet, though we rarely give it a thought. Yet as the air fills our lungs, freedom fills our souls. It gives breath to our laughter and joy. It gives voice to our songs. It gives us strength as we race for our dreams. ... Yes, as we gather together this Thanksgiving to ask the Lord's blessings, as we of whatever faith we are give praises to His name, let us thank Him for our peace, prosperity, and freedom. Happy Thanksgiving!" --Ronald Reagan

"Is there anyone that isn't concerned with the energy problem? Government caused that problem while we all stood by unaware that we were involved. Unnecessary regulations and prices imposed -- price limits -- back in the '50's are the direct cause of today's crisis. Our crisis isn't because of a shortage of fuel; it's a surplus of government. ...[W]hen they tell us about the conservation -- of course we should save. No one should waste a natural resource. But they act as if we've found all the oil and gas there is to be found in this continent, if not the world. Do you know that 57 years ago our government told us we only had enough for 15 years? And 19 years went by and they told us we only had enough left for 13 more years. Now, we've done a lot of driving since then and we'll do a lot more if government would do one simple thing: get out of the way and let the incentives of the marketplace urge the industry out to find the sources of energy this country needs." --Ronald Reagan

Interesting.........
Norman Mattoon Thomas ( November 20 , 1884 December 19 , 1968) was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America .
The Socialist Party candidate for President of the US , Norman Thomas , said this in a 1944 speech:
" The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party . The Democrat Party has adopted our platform."

"Are you willing to spend time studying the issues, making yourself aware, and then conveying that information to family and friends? Will you resist the temptation to get a government handout for your community? Realize that the doctor's fight against socialized medicine is your fight. We can't socialize the doctors without socializing the patients. Recognize that government invasion of public power is eventually an assault upon your own business. If some among you fear taking a stand because you are afraid of reprisals from customers, clients, or even government, recognize that you are just feeding the crocodile hoping he'll eat you last." --Ronald Reagan

"Now it doesn't require expropriation or confiscation of private property or business to impose socialism on a people. What does it mean whether you hold the deed ... or the title to your business or property if the government holds the power of life and death over that business or property? And such machinery already exists. The government can find some charge to bring against any concern it chooses to prosecute. Every businessman has his own tale of harassment. Somewhere a perversion has taken place. Our natural, unalienable rights are now considered to be a dispensation of government, and freedom has never been so fragile, so close to slipping from our grasp as it is at this moment." --Ronald Reagan

Below is a wonderful poem Audrey Hepburn wrote when asked to share her 'beauty tips.'
>
> It was read at her funeral years later.
>
>
> For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

"The collection of taxes which are not absolutely required, which do not beyond reasonable doubt contribute to the public welfare, is only a species of legalized larceny. "[April 15] is the last day for filing income tax returns -- a day that reminds us that taxpayers pay too much of their earnings to the Federal Government. ... While April 15 serves as a reminder, the people of the United States truly do not need to be reminded. They are victims of inflation, which pushes them into higher tax brackets. They are robbed daily of a better standard of living. They are discouraged from work and investment. ... The choice before us is clear. I strongly feel that the great majority of Americans believe that nothing would better encourage economic growth than leaving more money in the hands of the people who earn it. It's time to stop stripping bare the productive citizens of America and funneling their hard-earned income into the Federal bureaucracy." --Ronald Reagan

"T H O M A S J E F F E R S O N"
John Kennedy once said to a assembled group of scholars in the White
House. " I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent,
of human knowledge, that has ever been gathered at the White House,
with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."
The quotes below could prove his point.
When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we
shall become as corrupt as Europe.
Thomas Jefferson
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who
are willing to work and give to those who would not.
Thomas Jefferson
It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A
principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.
Thomas Jefferson
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the
government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of
taking care of them.
Thomas Jefferson
My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results
from too much government.
Thomas Jefferson
No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.
Thomas Jefferson
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and
bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny
in government.
Thomas Jefferson
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood
of patriots and tyrants.
Thomas Jefferson
Very Interesting Quote:
In light of the present financial crisis, it's interesting to read
what Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
Banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.
If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue
of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks
and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the
people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the
continent their fathers conquered.
Doesn't this sound eerily familiar to what is happening in America today?

"Mendacem memorem esse oportet."
In Latin it has such a ring: "It is fitting that a liar should be a man of good memory."

Love is a gamble,
Sex is a game,
Boys do the thing
Girls get the blame,
1 night in pleasure
9 months of pain
1 day in hospital and
a junior needs a name

Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.

There is no sunshine for those who persist in keeping their shutters barred "Joy is not gained by asking for it, but only by acting for it".If we want ot be happy we must throw down the bars that keep sunshine and cheerfulness out of our lives.We must keep clear our avenues or joy, or joy cannot enter our souls.
We are created for happinbess., If we are miserable it is because we persist in holding gloomy thoughts, in looking upon the dark instead of the bright side of the picture. You are made for enjoyument, the world was filled with things which you will enjoy, unless you are too grasping to care for what you cannot turn to other account than mere delight.
Nature is one vast garden of eden, packed full of indescribable loveliness, which softly, persistently, insistently calls to us for recognition and appreciation. But our senses are so dulled, so stupefied by our own selfish interests and sordid ambitions that we do not hear, we do not see, we do not feel it. We are so preoccupied that we close the gates of our eyes to all this appealing beauty, we shut the portals of our ears to the sweet sounds, to entancing music which would ravish the angels, we shut up all the avenues of joy through which might flow to us refreshment of soul and body.

To laugh often and love much:
To win respect of intelligent people
And the affection of children;
To earn the approbation of honest critics
And endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To give one's self;
To leave the world a little better,
Whether by a healthy child,
A garden patch,
Or redeemed social condition;
To have played and laughed with enthusiasm
And sung with exultation;
To know even one life has breathed easier
Because you have lived...
This is to have succeeded.
(Unknown Author, perhaps Ralph Waldo Emerson)

You only knew the Ozzy version, Cap'n? LOL no, just kidding, I just always thought that phrase originated from the Bible, and okay I had to google, but here y'go:
Isaiah 57 (King James Version):
57:20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
57:21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

A bog or mire is a wetland type that accumulates acidic peat, a deposit of dead plant material,usually mosses, but also lichens in Arctic climates. LOL
