Ok I just cleaned up the no-post threads...

Chat room had 18 people in it tonight.

There are many more that are still there. All created by Tck_Beachbum. It may appear they have more than one post in them. In fact tck would just posted a simple "." in the posting space to bring his topic up to the top of the boards over and over again.

I still do not understand why this person is worth all the time you have had to spend cleaning up the mess he has made for you. You have a great site except for the one person that thinks (maybe he does?) he runs the place if you are here or not.

Hi Chai - No one runs this place but me... believe me nobody gets any sort of preferential treatment. My stance on this is it needs to run in as automated a way as possible, and it needs to run on an unmoderated use-at-your-own-risk basis.

But that also means that I need to come up with features that facilitate this and prevent flooding and other bad forum behavior.

And until I can do that, it this means that nobody should run all over the forums making needless topics that are not meant for real conversation. So Tck, please don't continue doing that. And nobody else should either. When new people come into the forums I don't want the topics cluttered with garbage...

you might want to look at the same group of people who post and the comments they make if they don't like some one,that would run the average person off in aheart beat.

The simplest way to deal with this would be by allowing each person using the forums a total of (pick a number) say 3 topics...delete everything that has more than 50 posts..

obviously Mr. Mingles, you're a nice person and tck is a friend of yours. I appreciate the fact that you're a loyal friend.

but as you can see, tck is pretty much disliked by most of the regulars and many of the OG' in the forums and on your site in general and is the cause of many people to bug off of your site because of the bad experience that he likes to give people here.

Just put a "leash" on him and rein him in, maybe ban him from the forums and you'll create a nicer environment for people who visit your site.

while tck90210 might be an obscure onsite advertisement for you, the 10's of people that have bugged out of here (like freefall) because of him would have been your greatest salesmen, with the possibility of them posting an online review for mingles (which in turn acts as a back link to your site.. the kind that google likes).

And with sites like Yelp , CitySearch, Digg, Delicious, et.al., encouraging members to write reviews (which google uses and as you know, can effect your google ranking) about businesses online and elsewhere, the last thing you need is a jerk like tck depreciating the cost of clicks for advertisers on your site.

Limiting him to the chat room (if not removing him completely, which you wont' or can't do) will create a nice buzz about this site and raise your stats and clicks and relevance on google. And I know you know what I'm writing about.

Either you want the hippest web site on the net that's going to set you apart and become a mecca for all of those who are sick of the money that their paying Match.com, Friendfinder, etc. and have them come here to click on you adsense campaign to make you a lot of money, or you're going to back up this self centered asshole tck and be nothing but a web site dump, for sophomoric characters like him to run rough shod over your customers in their pursuit of sadistic pleasure.

If you look carefully at your traffic rankings on Alexa, and compare that to the dates that tck was hitting the forums hard with his fake forum titles, you'll notice that your web site traffic dropped off.

Oddly enough Mingles spiked on Alexa when 362436 was here and then started dropping off with the reappearance of tck.

as a caveat for the minglers here: writing a review about this site only affects it's ranking if the url is included, because that acts as a back link. Google has a certain criteria about what is a relevant back link (they don't like purchased back links) And assuming that the review and link are posted on a site mentioning other dating sites, Google will then give it some kind of relevance in it's rankings. The more relevant back links, the higher the ranking by google and the higher the placement in the organic searches, which equates to raising the cost per click (aka pay per click) for sponsors advertising on this site. Online business that have advertising and banner ads, that have a high ranking can make up to .25 per click off of google adsense campaigns run on their sites.

When you do the math, it's hard to believe that someone would allow another person to take advantage of their loyalty as a friend and lower their profit margin by disrupting their site.

I see several people who get really annoyed by one person. Then i see a couple of those people call the annoying person names. But in other posts, or even the same post expressing their annoyance, i see the couple people complain about the annoying person calling them names. Now, I'm sure y'all are sure about who started the name calling. That doesn't matter.

Keerok, just cause i don't say much, doesn't mean i haven't been here. One thing i like about mingles is the freedom to lurk everywhere.

Tck knows my parents are dead. Died before they were 60, both of them, divorced for 38 or so years. He knows cause i hang out in chat, chat with him, at him, tease him, get teased, call him names, get called names. Same with most of the regulars in chat. They know when some newbie with an attitude comes in, starts crap, and eventually, (after i've given them a hard time about their crappy attitude) says something about my mom, they know i'm gonna say the same thing i do everytime, "my mom is dead." THen they either say more stuff about her, or go back to their other bad attitude platform. DOesn't matter to me. it's done, over, and time to get back to giving the individual a rash of shit about their bad attitude.

I mean, it's an open chat, so they can spend their time and energy having a bad attitude, and i can choose to spend my energy fighting it, or I can reserve my energy for more productive things, like flirting with all the women, and a few choice men.

Sometimes i choose to beat a dead horse into subatomic particles, and sometimes i wield the block. In the forums, sometimes i go into a thread, see where it's headed and spend an hour catching up to the end of it, and sometimes i back out and go elsewhere. It's the Going Green thing don't ya know, conserving energy for what I think is a better use of it.

As for those new people who get picked on, I assume they are as capable as me with the keyboard (although only a few are as fast) and the english language to choose to, or not to, spend their time defending themselves, or ingoring time-wasting tirades. If they are adults, they don't need caregivers, they can take care of themselves. If they let themselves get taken in, then they deserve the lessons they are going to learn. Better to learn those lessons here from Tck than from someone who can do them real harm. If they are minors, they shouldn't be here in the first place. DOn't want Mingles and all its members to get subpoenaed by some federal internet-sting task force.

Mingles is still the greatest site in the world. I am often laughing at what I'm going to see from Kee, Chai, Cimm, and others, BEFORE I even log in. With a free site booting people DOES NOT WORK. They will come back. Different name, different pic, different IP address. No matter what you do, if they want to, they will come back. I've been running this site for ELEVEN YEARS. Believe me I know from what I speak.

Therefore it is up to the collective members of the site to affect who sticks around and who doesn't. You really want someone to leave? Ignore them.

I have been ignoring Tck for the whole time he has been on here, but thanks for the advise. I agree booting people does not work, but not listening to members does even less. If you boot them enough times, they tend not to come back. If they do, you must boot them again, or put up with endlessly disruptive people who destroy your product. I've been running boards for twenty years, since before the internet, and that's been my experience.

I can bring back the way block used to work, where it also eliminated all the posts from the person blocked from your view of the forums.

Do you all want that back?

If you can make it so the blocked person does not see our posts and are unable to take potshots, sure.

I've been here for almost ten years myself and I have watched Mr Mingles *boot* my friends'profiles and many others...but I have stuck around because I'm loyal to this site....and I just plain like it.

I was hanging around in chat with Rickster, Airickjay, Ironcat and several others until FINALLY it caught on. I HAVE been in chat for hours at a time. The truth is, things change, chat isn't for me anymore...I try it out at least once a week and I don't care for the *new* format.

I don't understand why some people/profiles have been deleted and others are not. Not that I agree with that course of action, but that was a precident that only Mr Mingles could start.

I'm guessing that Mr Mingles has seen error in this method and that is why he is reluctant to terminate any more profiles.

Inaction is the worst type of action.

Let me know if ya'll find another site, I'm tired of trying to be *heard* inbetween all of the multiple nonsense threads.
