Don't know if it is a sin, but different groups interpret the term "witnessing" differently.

I prefer a more well rounded, more heart to heart approach over the pound it into someone approach.

It's not a "sin" as far as I know, unless of course it's being forced, i.e. cult etc. What star said is about accurate. Some, J.W. for example believe that witnessing for the Lord is about going door to door and distributing pamphlets. Although annoying to some, it's comfort to others. I for one, always invite them in, offer a refreshment and tell them that I'm a Christian that does not believe in all of their ideaolgy, however, I do respect their enthusiasm for the Lord. Others, believe that attacking people at every opportunity is witnessing. I had an aunt once that became a "born again" (which I am now, so I'm not saying that is wrong) and went all out for the Lord and told my siblings that they were all going to hell for the lifestyles they were leading etc......It of course caused my family to rebel and tell her to keep her "religion" to herself. Not a bad person, just excited for the Lord and wanting to spread the good word, however, her tactics sucked. And, truth be told, my siblings were going to hell for their lifestyles. Most of us (my family)are believers today, however, it had nothing to do with that episode.

I don't care how many times you go to church after being hateful, condemning others beliefs, damning people to hell because they don't believe the way you believe or because their religions are different than your own. Witnessing accompanied with ugliness and hatred is not 'witnessing'. You don't get a free pass to be an asshole just because you go to church and ask God to forgive you, daily, weekly, whatever, or spew Bible verses all over in hopes that it will absolve you of your hatred. You're right Waters, it comes from within. And what I see coming from within you all over these forums is in no way 'witnessing' by any definition.

No clear...haven't been to the gay forum. I don't have any interest since I am not gay...which is the only reason I can think of to go to that forum. The word of God DOES talk about homosexuality being a sin. I believe it's in corinthians. Also if you go to the "sodom and gommorah"- homosexuality was one of the reasons that cities were destroyed-because they weren't any who were righteous people.In the old testiment, after Moses came down from the mountain,(God told moses that the people were sinning)he threw the tablets down, showing his anger, because the people were just as those in sodom&gomorah. homosexuality IS a sin. If God meant for 2 men or 2 women together, He wouldn't have created man and woman. But He DID create a man and then woman to be with him.God didn't create another man to be with Adam.

Clover, before you just come into a forum and post blindly (likely at the request of someone in chat), I suggest you read some of the rest of the threads that contain Waters rantings, and my responses to them. I do NOT care what Waters believes or how he believes. What I do care about is that he judges others and persecutes everyone who does not believe as he does. This is an international site. This is a site that has members from any number of religious beliefs. IF this were a company, Waters would be fired for harassment because of the way he speaks to others and degrades them for their tolerance of anything that he doesn't agree with. frckld1...I agree with you that clear's method of "communicating" his beliefs is offensive. However, my post was not blind, I have read many forums... and usually no longer enjoy them when I see you and clear sparring. It's worse than watching the "View" (and much dumber, if that's possible). Also, no...Nobody in chat requested me to do anything...you need to get over your issues with some people on this site...I've never even heard of you or clear being mentioned in chat. I made a mistake in acknowledging both you and clear...and it won't happen again.

I think that it probably isn't literally considered a sin to push your religion on others...but I think that it is wrong and stupid to push your beliefs (either way...whatever they are) on others who aren't asking your opinion and aren't receptive. I think everyone develops conclusions and beliefs in life based on where they've come from and what they've experienced. God (yes...I believe) gave us free will to make our own choices...and therefore gave us all the right to believe and behave how we deem fit...including not believing, etc...

So, basically Capital...I guess it could be considered a "Social Sin"...committed by "Social Retards"? Whatdaya think?

You're certainly entitled to your opinions, Clover. As is everyone. On that we can agree. I have no issues with 'some people' on this site. I do have issue with 'any people' that condemn others for their beliefs and choices just because they don't match up to their own. You'll also note, because you've read all the posts, that it IS a sin in Islam to push your religion on others, as is posted above. I don't know what 'version' of religion is 'right'. For all I know, or anybody knows, maybe God does view it as a sin. The bottom line is religion is a very personal belief system, and does not have one specific set of rules and beliefs that fit every living person. Personally, I think God wanted it that way. There are common threads that run through all religions if you look for them.
