I had to start this post.I'm a singer/songwritter and dreamer and I owe it all to The Beatles. When I was a child I discoverd 'Rubber Soul' in my Aunt's record collection. That completely changed my life at 5 years old.I discoverd how to dream and create my own world through them. Each member had their own style in which we could relate to them.John, the quick witted smart Beatle.Paul, the well adjusted talent.George, the quiet yet deep Beatle. And Ringo, the one everyone got along with!Their music is timelss and inspiring.I would love to hear how and if the Beatles have affected you. Some memories or favorite songs.I want this thread to be a celebration of the four lads who shook the world!

Abbey Road is great! That's there final album. When I was in London I had the chance to cross that same road on the cover...and yes I took my shoes off just like Paul. That's also the album where the great George harrison got to shine with "Here Comes The Sun" and "Something"!

MsAries song Lucy In the Sky....and Toyman's song Get Back are perfect examples of the Beatles talent.Thoes two songs are completely different from each other. The Beatles were great at changing their style on any given record! They could switch from a pyscedelic song ,to a pop rock song, to a ballad! In this day and age it is hard to find a group that developes right b4 the public(and does it well). The Beatles represent a lost time...a time when imagination was king! It's more than just the music...the beatles became a soundtrack to our lives.

I'm curious...has anyone here been to a Beatles concert.I would love to hear about that!

I have never been to a Beatles Concert. Their first movie " A Hard Day's Night" played here months after hitting the larger venues. The theater was filled with screaming young girls and boys ( except me...my sister had promised to smack the crap outta me if I even looked like I was going to scream). Many years later, I actually got to see the movie and actually heard the script/music. I can still remember the lyrics to all of their songs. I remember begging my parents to leave Sunday evening church early so I could see them on Ed Sullivan. That is truly the first time I felt my heart go "pitty pat". From that moment on,each time an album of theirs came out, I had it....still have them all. My parent had their own opinions of them at first, but once they actually listened to the music and paid attention to the lyrics,Dad remained a bit lukewarm about them but Mama became a life long fan. Thank you for allowing me to be a young girl again...happens every time I hear them sing !!!

A few years ago there was a Mingles party for a week end in Liverpool. Went round the Beatles Museum. Everyone said I looked much younger leaving than going in. Yeah right: I felt 16 years old again! :-)

Here is a link to a great rendition of revolution 1. If you remember there were two different revolutions on the white album, revolution 1 and revolution 9. 9 was the one with all of the wack sounds mixed together for 11 minutes. Well this version has the slow cadence of revolution 1 and they were obviously experimenting with layering the wack crap on top of it. Of course, the most popular version of revolution was on the B side of Hey Jude, the fast rock version, the one you hear on the radio. But not too many people know of the white album version, the slow one. Here is the link. http://www.thetalentshow.org/2009/02/24/revolution-1-take-20/

Randy and I are both fans. As a matter of fact, we went to Beatle Mania Now at The State Theatre in Ithaca, NY on Valentine's Day. Those guys were awesome. As a matter of fact, I read that they've been doing this tour for more than 20 years now. It was a live band, not a recorded show. The one guy that plays John looks so much like him, it's remarkable.

Oh my gosh this is aging me big time...

I know that my mothers repertoire of music that was taught to me before I entered school coupled with the music of all the teen siblings that I had, well exposed me to all kinds of music from day one. I too was encouraged to find music of my own that I liked. I remember very well some of my earliest childhood favourites that influenced my love for music: "Puff The Magic Dragon" by Peter, Paul and Mary (early sixties); "To Sir With Love" by Lulu (1967); "Daydream Believer" by The Monkeys (1968); and not long after "Here Comes The Sun" by The Beatles (1969). "Here Comes the Sun" was first introduced to me in a grade school music assembly performed by a local artist who was a guest to our school. I had already "fell in love" with Davey Jones until I heard this guy in person sing "Here Comes the Sun" and realized that it wasnt the person singing it but rather it was the songs that I was in love with.

My music collection began then and today I am still collecting and listening to my own repertoire of music but I hold a special tribute in my heart to those early day influences that I once sung so carefree, but now understand better than ever:

"It's been a long cold lonely winter... it feels like years since it's been here... the smiles returning to the faces... it seems like years since it's been here... I feel that ice is slowly melting... it seems like years since it's been clear... and I say it's all right." smile

When I saw this topic I had to stop and say hello. I never got to see the original Beatles but 2 years ago I did see Beatlemania. They are still touring and book their act with orchestras all over the country. I can tell you that they will be back in Evansville, Indiana to perform with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra again in October for 2 days. They are great!! You can probably find them near you sometime this year. Don't miss it!
