Everything is looking good, imo.
Perhaps a threadname search to find those older topics?

If a thread creator feelings the need to delete a post could it has some high level options as to why it was deleted so the readers have some visibility to the reason and do not need to ask why (ie made in error; irrevelant; harrasment; degrading; racist; other; etc)

There are numerous functions that you could add, but because of the nature of the beast on sites like this, they would get abused.
But we could use a spell checker!
And that's something that can't be abused.
Back in the day when we were all just a name in here (and then all looked like the same male or female toon) we used to post in white (or was it gold) font, on black backgrounds.
I would like to see the black background with white (or was it gold?) font instituted again.
You used to let the Gold members use some basic HTML to create bold, colored or larger text. Which, in my opinion allowed for the writer to be abusive on another level (people used the features of larger font size, combined with bold and or colored type, to try and make their posts appear more important than someone else's in a discussion).
If you're looking for improvements, that's a change that I wouldn't want to see again, because it doesn't keep the "playing field" level
I think that allowing someone to underline a word or sentence, would be helpful, because, in my opinion, that lends the writer the option to visually put emphasis on that which they feel is the crux of their statement (In my previous sentence, I would have underlined the word "wouldn't"
. And it's not visually distracting or over powering to the discussion as statements made of fonts that are sized larger, look bolder or of different colors.
But I suppose that someone will abuse that too, by underlining everything that they write as though it's all so important...
We still have the smiley and wink features left over from the HTML days.. which, as you see above, can be a problem when someone inserts a sentence in parenthesis and ends up with an unwanted wink at the end of their statement.
I think that it could be helpful if a person is allowed to insert a link that could be clicked on and or upload a jpeg (that opened in another tab or window within this site [only]).
That feature can be found in numerous tech forums, where I've never seen it abused.
Of course, you know that someone will come in here and post links to porn sites, spam and or for page rank on their site or upload porn pix with that option.
.

Mr. Mingles, I'd like to be able to pay for my Gold Membership the way I use to instead of having to sign up for trialpay.......I know they send us to sponsors of Mingles, but I really don't like to order or sign up for things online. I was happy using paypal to send Mingles my membership fees.
Everything about Mingles is great.

Thanks for all the suggestions... please keep them coming!
Here is a question: I made a change a few months ago that limited the number of threads appearing on a page, and added the 'previous|next' links to page through older threads.
So what about posts? Some of these threads have topped 1000 posts. Do you generally like having all the posts on a single page, or would you prefer to have to page through them?

Personally, I prefer being able to see everything on one page. In my opinion, I think that it's easier to scroll down, than it is to flip a page to look for something to refer to or to follow the continuity of a thread.

I also prefer to see everything on one page. But it would perhaps be a good idea to have a button just above the first post, that bring you to the last post.

But on my keyboard it is "Ende" And "Y" and "Z" have changed place. Toke some time before I learned that.

And since "toking" isn't exactly legal in Germany, should we assume that you're using a computer at an internet "cafe" in Amsterdam?

Don't worry Robbi, I can take it

And about the Swedish. That's no problem for you. Just check out the "4 letter word game" and read my post's. You might just learn some words

Since this is a thread about nigerian and other scammers. What ever Mr mingles did, it seams to be working. Or I might just have lost my apeal to them. Because they dont want to talk to me any more

And as you can see Mr. Mingles, Cristo has, quite cleverly, obliged by showing how useful it would be to underline a word (as opposed to using All CAPS).
I assume Setor that you would be talking about...uh.. "cough".. "shopping" in Amsterdam. Esp. at places that have big window displays from which to pick your.. uh... "item of choice"?

Hej Lisa, (hi Lisa). It looks like it was more to the Norwegian side. In Swedish it would be *Jag Mig en puss*. Very close though, I speak both too, Since I come not to far from the norwegian border

And H_W, Nigeria have the same spelling in Swedish. But I dont think such beauty, as Lisa, comes from there.
Cimm, One can "cough"...Do some "window-shopping". But I have actually never been to that "district". That's no place for me. So I don't really know.

Many times I've had the "someone wants to chat" window pop up, but out of habit I ignore it because I have no idea who it is. It would be nice to have some way of identifying the person attempting to chat with you so you could make an informed decision as to whether or not to accept.

lol here's an idea, A feature that lets you delete a forum thread after the fact. Sometimes us NOOBS post something stuipid in a thread, and before we know it, we want to delete it before we become the laughing stock of the entire mingles community. How about an ip blocker so we can truly be rid of people who have had their profiles removed? I'd also like to see it made impossible for an individual to view the profile of a person who is blocking them.

The problem is probably not so much to do with the interface at all...even though if I looked that over more properly I would probably have an idea or two...many have given good suggestions here though. No, the main problem with this site (even though you didn't ask for an opinion on this) is that there are waaaaay too many spammers on here...namely from Russia and such places. People who give out their email or yahoo/msn adds just to entice people into contacting them...I've actually not seen another chat/dating/social networking site with this problem to this degree...it's made me seek out other sites to be active on and I don't really come on here much anymore... I'm glad I've found other sites...which don't have this same problem, to such a degree as this one does.
Anyway...one good thing about the chat here is that it actually sits in the webbrowser and doesn't open up in a new window. However, the resizing capabilities of the chat window is poor...I know that that is a function within the design of the little applet (or whatever it is) that the people who have created it have done...but it's rather sad that you don't have more options of resizing the windows properly...like if I dragged them out, I'd be able to set it to whatever size I like...not just the available little adjustments that are sorely lacking.
Oh LISA4631...its Ge mig en puss....in Swedish...pronounced 'yhe (almost like yeah but without the a sound) may en puss' meaning Give me a kiss (one on the cheek mainly...as 'kyss' is kiss...pronounced schyss...)...

Ave Mingles
Ok ,,I may just be repeating what others have said but ,,the more poeple wanting it the more chance of it eventuating ,I guess ,,So yeah !! I would love to be able to know who is trying to I M me before I except , , and also I hate how when ever someone in I M makes an entry ,,it just popps up and what you were typeing to the room just ends up in your I M window.Your I M conversation window should just flash like msn does so you know they have said something new. That way you can talk in I M and in the main room without having to retype everything when the I M person enters new data.
Also you can decide to get back to the conversation in I M when you wish to ,,,rather than having to minimise it every 2 seconds to interact with the room when someone comes in and addresses you. I also like that option other chats offer ,, where they put a coffee cup next to ur name when you get really busy in I M and dont want to affend the room for being out of conversation for a longer period than exspected but still wish to return .That way the room is aware that you are no longer keeping up with the rooms dialog.
So yeah all good bar a few little hassels .
Thanx in advance if I see these changes ,, Cheers !!! Think Mingles is pretty Cool and very addictive *smiles.

Have a dedicated moderator that can make timely adjustments to the sight. Seems that things like picture approval and such takes a very long time. Would tend to make people shy away from the sight unless improved upon.

Ideally, a government-administered health care plan would be funded through pay-roll deductions. Only those without a paycheck would be on the tax-payer's dime. It would also be in business's best interests to subsidize if not underwrite those pay-roll deductions. It need not be a significant amount either: even $5.00 per week should be sufficient so long as the administration is efficient.
In Canada, each province is responsible for administering its own health insurance, and some (not all) operate at least partially on a pay-roll deduction system. Some will say (rightly so) that this is just another form of tax, but it does serve to make it more transparent.

Hi Cristo - thanks for the welcome back. Been planning on posting for a long time but seems that between working too hard and playing too hard, there is barely a chance between "tours" to learn how to double clutch let alone post :-) btw - it's hard to convince people but I truly enjoy being the navigator, so much easier to nap :-)

Ok I left my secret decoder ring at home. Hard enough to pack 2 weeks worth of clothes in the A let alone all my spy equipment.
Really enjoyed meeting you Ron, you picked the PERFECT spot, too bad the we were on time restraints could have hung out longer.
Robbi - oh you could be in real trouble with Miss Cleo :-) She has powers you know:-)

MOSTess, I would have certainly enjoyed more of your company. You and H_W are both teriffic folks. Perhaps next time you're in the area we can take more time.
In case anyone makes it to this part of the world as would like a great place for a meal, I can heartily endorse the restaurant we went to: http://www.barangas.ca/

When do we distinguish between new and 'other' people? How long are they 'new'...?

The chatroom needs to extend it's limit from 20 to no limit.
