OK, so here's the dilima. I have 4 little kids. My experience so far has taught me that most guys who are single my age are either A) chased off by the thought of kids, b) Child molesters looking for victims c) Just looking for sex. I really really want to believe that there is a God Loving, church going guy out there, who maybe is a single dad, who lives what he believes. Maybe he's got a crop of kids, so my crop isn't so scarry. IDK, i'm thinking i'm dreaming...If you're out there, let me know!!!

Interesting i say. While i do not go to church i do have morals and am a single dad. I'll say what the real sad reality of it is this; most women that have children seem to be jaded about what they expect in a man because they suffered at the hands of another man. That ladies is very true. My ex has/had 3 kids of her own when i met her years ago and then we had one of our own. So the thought of having a large family does not scare me. Dorkfishkati......Well, I will say this much, I am a single dad who does love kids, and I am no pervert, sex dog, and I do believe in god. AND, if you look hard enough, you might just meet a great person...because God only knows, he may be right in front of you!

Jacob, I'm most definately not looking for a meal ticket. I have been the bread winner in my home since i was 19 years old, and that hasn't changed any since i left my ex. This may surprise you, but some women, can and do work as hard as a man.

Katie, I don't know why I didn't weigh in on this earlier. I was a single dad. I raised my daughter from diapers to adulthood by myself. I'll never claim that I was a perfect parent, but she just finished school and got her first real job, she's never been pregnant, she's not on drugs and she's not out selling her ass, so I must have done something right.
It wasn't easy, and there were times when I wanted to give up, but I never did. And the amazing thing is. . . I'd do it all over again!
There are good guys who love kids, Katie. Just have faith in yourself and your children. They tend to be pretty good judges of character. If your kids like a guy right away (not after they've been plied with candy and toys), chances asre the fellow is decent.

Dorkie baby, someone will come along as long as you let him. Sadly, I think Teeky is right. If you go into a "getting to know this person" phase thinking.. " well, let's see what kind of dickness this guy can get himself into" You will never be happy. Let's say he seems great, you're still apprehensive, then he does one minute thing wrong.. he will be gonzo in your mind.
I guess this thought is for all the jaded ladies(me included..) We need to start getting the "He'll be a DICK" thoughts from our heads. Even IF most men ARE dickheads!!! WINK WINK WINK!!!

personally, I'm not a firm believer in "advice"
I've only heard two tidbits" of advice in my life that were worth listening too which kind of ruled out all other advice....
1 - my grandfather told me to never marry a woman with big hands
and...
2 - my father taught me that nearly all advice "given" is generally best taken by the person offering it, lol

Hello Katie....
I am myself a single parent of three wonderful children. I work hard to take care of them and teach them the things they need to achieve in life. One of these things being that its ok to be single if you keep stumbling into the "wrong" ones.
Everybody is single for a variety of reasons. For every cheating man... there is a cheating woman. Every twisted male has a twisted female counterpart. That being said the converse is true as well. Every person has somebody that compliments them and we are all capable of committing the same errors as others.
I guess your dilemma really boils down to wading threw all of the bologna to find out which people are closest to what you seek. I choose not to look. In the past whenever I stop looking for something, I find it. So if I were to offer advice... not that I am qualified... I would say just keep making new friends and don't look at every person as a potential mate. We all have issues. We all have emotional baggage and scarring. That is what makes us unique.....

ron..that is crazy...i guess ill never have to worry about meeting another mingler at work,at least not a woman,ive never heard of women in the oilfield out here,thouhg im sure they probably do it in some places.

LOL. The company we work for is under contract to various corporations. Rose is working for a major bank while my part of the office works for Nissan. I've been there over 2 years now and I love it. I guess Rose has been there 7-8 months now, but I just noticed her and recognized her from her photo the other day.
It IS crazy though!
