Do people really fall for romantic scams?
I guess they do...they must, or this many emails with overly flowery and exaggerated romantic sentiments would not be sent around. Are they silly though, the ones that send them? They have pictures of beautiful model-like women that look like theyve been stolen from the web (hint, if they look like it, they usually are). What do they get out of it? Is money involved somehow?
Ive got nothing against people from Ukraine or Russia or any other places for that matter, theres good and bad everywhere and sometimes, sadly, more desperation and poverty in some places, which of course, explains a bit about why these things happen in the first place. Still...it seems a bit...sad.
I also feel sad for the men who may be looking for real love. The emails and things that these women (if they are even women in the first place, I know that many of them genuinely are, as it seems like quite a regular form of business but Ive no doubt that some of them arent) send out, are geared towards hooking a man by making him believe something that seems taken out of a fairy-tale. Unfortunately for them, the letters contain romantic naiveties that you would have to be EXTREMELY nave to believe. And they cant be explained away by a loss in translation either; theyre a bit too manipulative for that.
A general hint guys: if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. This whole thing of, I want to find for me the only man in whole life while theres only 1 picture of a woman who looks like she could be on any cat-walk in Paris, London, New York or Milan, wont very likely be a woman who would be on a site of this nature (no pun intended towards the people who are on this site, after all, Im on it myself).
No, the genuine people who are on sites like this are looking for many things Im sure, love no less if that was to happen, but most are probably looking for genuine friendships, just like I am. Ive made some great friends through sites of this nature (even though I tend to bug the hell out of people in the chat rooms, not intentionally I assure you. A number of people actually dont get me at all or do not want to take the time to look deeper...and I like people who do look deeper, theres a different quality to them, but hey, thats just my taste ;-)
The sad thing about people sending out fake emails and then asking for chatting through messenger or some such client, is that it only serves to waste precious time, at least if youre out to get to know genuine people for genuine friendships.
Does anyone else get these things? Ive suddenly experienced a barrage of ladies from Russia sending me stuff. The sad thing is that, if theres a lady from that part of the world, genuinely looking to find friends, shed not be believed and viewed with great suspicion on account of all those with false profiles that send false messages with shady motives. They must obviously be getting something out of it if theyre doing it, I just dont get what?
I don't know about that one. She could be a gal from Mystery, Alaska that just doesn't much like hockey players...or a girl from Fresno that doesn't speak Spanish for that matter, hehe.
