So we're back online, now coming to you from downtown Omaha, Nebraska, lol. I have to say, the weather is much less oppressive than Fresno, the people seem overly nice, and the unemployment rate is under 5% (I'm guessing the best in the country at the moment). We rolled in here about a week ago, and the first person I saw I asked where the nearest grocery store was. Not only did she tell me, she insisted on driving us and helping us find everything in the aisles, lol. I think we're going to like it here, only there's no pro teams here, sigh. What exactly is a Cornhusker??

CC....I have an office in Omaha now and I am supposed to be moving there this winter perhaps. I may need directions to the grocery store when I do.
Cornhusker? Isn't that something that is inferior to an Aggie?

I believe Miss Emerald was from Nebraska and now resides in California. I once asked her what they call a good looking woman from Nebraska. When she replied, what? I replied, "a visitor from Iowa." She didn't like that too well....

Rickster... I think that's the other way around sweetie. A good looking women in Iowa is a visitor from Nebraska. LOL

Thanks, DoRight...I knew Mostie was talking to someone here from Mingles, but I didn't know it was you, lol. We appreciate all the help, we're like explorers (without the nice galleon).
I don't know what Nebraska women are like on the grading scale, but they sure put the whoopin' on Fresno. And besides, now that Mostie is here, that rating is sure to go wayyyyy up, hehe.

Mr & Mrs Capn' -
WELCOME to the Central MIDWEST - home of the lowest cost of living, lowest unemployment, lowest consumer price index (please keep it quiet, we don't want too many others to find out)
...and welcome BACK to normalcy, lol!

Adam, please forgive...Kansas IS flat, lol- I remember passing through there, and thinking to myself (Robb-o, yes, I honestly DID think this..)"Omg...it's as bad as Montana!"...And I told Capn to add it to the list of states I never wanted to live in, LOL-
Robb-o, I couldn't tell you what the country around here looks like, haven't seen it yet- parts of the city put me in mind of lower and somewhat upper MI- the thing I hate the worst, is feeling like I'm in the middle of another country, because I sooooo don't know my way around, haha-

And Robb-o, in all fairness, when I passed through MT the first time, I positively hated how...well, you know, I've griped about it enough times, haha- but when I passed back through, apparently we went a different way, and it actually was quite beautiful, really.
...of course, we may have been in the state next to it on THAT trip! HAAAAAhahahahahaha-

I've passed through the midwest a couple of times, however, never lived there. From everything I've gathered it would be a good place to live. Have friends scattered around Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska and they all like the people and places they live. I can only assume that you guys moved chasing work.....Hope everything works out, ya'll deserve it!!!

Thanks guys...you would be right, Robbi. It looks like it's already panning out too, we just got the internet a few days ago and started applying, and the phone was ringing pretty consistently today. What a difference from where we were at in Cali and Michigan. Truth be told, we hated to leave Michigan, at least the northern region, and may end up back there someday when things turn around (the degrees should help), but right now it's just damned hard to make a living there unless you're lucky enough to have been at a company that's remained stable for a while, and is still that way. Not a lot of people can say that there right now, and that's a shame. Up north truly is beautiful, and the people are much nicer than downstate. The people here seem that way too, and Adam's right...they all wave, lol. Unless I'm wearing the Michigan Wolverine shirt...then they just look kind of confused, but they don't flip me off like they would in Ohio, hehe.

ooops,,ok,ive regained my composure now, sorry about that, and i apologise for calling people and telling them to flip you off instead of waving at you, didnt mean anything by it,lol.i,ll give you two a goat to make up for it ok?
is the slaughterhouse/beefpacking plant the big employer around there?
i imagine deer hunting will be a lot better there, and much bigger whitetail than where youve come from,i know people come from texas, and all over the country to hunt our plentiful and large ks whitetails.

Hope it works for the best for you two. And Cristo is correct. It's nice to live in a place where people still wave at each other and stop and help if your on the side of the highway. The real America.

A jack and a beagle would make an interesting mixed breed. But probably too fast for rabbit hunting.

Yeah.......I'd like to purchase the UP for 102 beads, two pieces of metal that look like gold, four matching hubcaps and an ounce of hooch.......
The lower part of the state will probably go for alot less......

The lower part of the state would go for free, if it wasn't for the great hockey team playing there, lol.
Well I'm set...starting a job Tuesday, but had four more interviews the past two days for even better jobs, and it's looking like at least one of them is going to come through before Tuesday. What a difference, actually having a choice to make after having no options for months in Cali and Michigan. If anyone is having trouble out there landing a job, this is definitely the place to be. Get your degrees and then go somewhere else if you want, but until you finish them and are struggling along with everyone else for the jobs available without a degree, you give yourself a fighting chance in a place like this. Needless to say, we're very relieved...things are going to work out just fine here. Oohrah!

Thanks Chris, sure feels that way, lol.
Robbie, that means a lot to us, thanks. I got a call from the biggest hospital here today, after two interviews there and got offered one of those better jobs I was talking about, so I've basically got back what was lost in Michigan. This place is much bigger, and doesn't seem to be susceptible to any kind of takeover anytime soon, that's for sure. I know nothing is certain these days, but as far as security goes, this looks like it's probably as good as it gets in today's climate. Thanks y'all, and Bubba sorry we got the invite too late last night!
