Because if the $787 billion stimulus is doing more than you had hoped, and it is producing roughly 10% unemployment across the USA, what the fvck were you hoping for?
Or are you trying to convince some non-thinking retard that the stimulus was productive because it was your administration's (bad brain dead) idea?
The stimulus package does not completely totally 100% SUCK as bad as it could have, because, after all, unemployment was gonna reach 20%...?
LOL

"Compared with expectations a few months ago, we now have a recovery which ... may be coming a little earlier and it may be slightly stronger because financial conditions have improved more rapidly than we assumed a few months ago,"
The OECD forecasts show a third-quarter return to annualized quarter-on-quarter growth in the United States of 1.6 percent, 1.1 percent in Japan, and 0.3 percent in the 16-country euro zone, led by its two largest economies, Germany and France.

What was the alternative when banks, etc, were going under. do nothing? anybody have, or had, a better plan? Other than bitching?
You guys are blessed with Obama. Count your blessings. Bush was working on a third term. Cheney in 2012?

Food stamps up 22% since June of 2008. Free food program.
10% unemployment and rising. Free money program, don't work - get paid anyhow.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
When the free food and the free money for not working (unemployment) runs out we'll see how fast the 'stimulus' stops working, because that's where the 'stimulus' money is going.
So far the 'stimulus' has been little else than a 'give-away' program, and we all know it just cannot last. The money WILL run out, people cannot continue to be paid & fed forever.
Too many people are confusing the 'stimulus' program with artificially sustained short-term give-away programs.
(Just my opinion.
See the situation as you will.)

Who said otherwise?
But... do food stamps and unemployment $$ 'stimulate' the economy, or do they simply allow for survival?
Biden seems to think the economy is getting better due to the 'stimulus', whereas facts show fewer people working and more people receiving assistance. How 'stimulating' is that?
(If people think food stamps and unemployment $$ stimulate the economy we're all in trouble, lol, because it will be VERY short-lived.
)

starving em better?
biggest problem will be inflation when the economy booms ,,within the next year or two, or sooner.

Josh - yes, that's my observation. Biden seems to think the stimulus is 'working' but I don't think long term jobs being produced, we're simply treading water economically. Better than drowning, for sure, but not exactly 'stimulating'.
As Robbi noticed, just a few weeks ago Biden was disappointed in the 'stimulus' results. After talking with his boss though his views have now changed and he suddenly thinks the stimulus results are now actually better than he had hoped for.
Obama must have spanked Biden for not seeing the obvious truth, lol.

There's been plenty of alternatives offered and put on the table. But, the short sighted Obama and company has shoved bills through (without anyone reading them) in quick order and nothing else but the "chosen one's" plan has been considered. Much like the Cash for Clunkers.......great deal for two months. Now that everyone that wanted a car, bought a car in that program, what's going to happen in the next 6 months?? Short term thinking isn't fixing anything....just prolonging the inevitable. Sure looks good on the news though eh???

please delete my posts, next time no threats, please just DO IT!

They do both. Unemployment is $$$ and food stamps is trade goods. You get a stimulus and actually get something out of it: a citizen surviving until back on his/her feet with a tiny bit of bargaining power, and some food. Not a huge economic impact, but a huge personal benefit. Being hungry sucks.
I'm not saying this is something to jump for joy over, obviously people having to draw food stamps and unemployment isn't a good thing, but I see people using these resources wisely more often than not, and it's $$$ back into the economy where it's needed. It sure isn't going into an investment account.

I'm sure Biden's "better than we hoped" elation will be cause for celebration among these folks.
(There was plenty of free 'stimulus' money for those who lost their jobs... but what about some 'stimulus' to create more jobs?)
I personally think Biden is full of bullshit in suggesting the stimulus was/is doing "more than we had hoped" (it's just a flat out fvcking lie actually), but that's just my opinion.
I see people 'reaching' for some kind of positive spin to the stimulus, but quite frankly the high points being suggested are kind of weak. $787 billion gone with very, very little to show for it?
I suspect the only ones defending the $787 billion 'stimulus' bill are doing so from a purely political standpoint.
The spending itself simply doesn't make any sense.

If you were to start a company with 100 employees you would select the state with the lowest taxes, employees ready-eager-willing to work (no union attitudes), low rent and or land sale costs, etc, etc... Which state among the 50 would you choose to maximize the life & profits for your business?
Okay, now... consider the WORLD ECONOMY instead of just the 50 states. Apply the same exact questions & principles and now... where would you start your company? In the USA?
I believe that we, as a nation, are not considering the world economy when we want companies to foot the $$ bill for all employee benefits, vaca pay, sick pay, family leave, gov't regulations, union demands, health insurance, legal liability, etc, etc.
In order to remain profitable, and to avoid these stupidly ridiculous costs, the companies outsource the product manufacture, or, move their production facility to Mexico. It is now a world economy, the companies aren't held hostage to the USA.
I will guarantee you this: when people run out of the 'stimulus' free unemployment money they will beg, plead, scramble, and fight each other, for $12.00 per hour jobs.
And all of the jobs will be in other countries.
- - - - - - - - - -
Stimulate the economy: make the USA business & industry FRIENDLY.
Stop the lies about what isn't working (Biden). Stop saddling business & industry with so much bullshit - declare a moratorium on some current business regulations. Welcome business & industry back at low costs. Start from the bottom again and build it back up (but realize that it will never reach the level of $$ greed as before).
We are going to be DESPERATE for jobs soon... better wake the fvck up.
Companies aren't choosing the least expensive STATE, they're choosing the least expensive COUNTRY. Think of the bigger picture.

Money slow to trickle out and some spending priorities are questionable
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32678317/ns/politics/

1.3 million to lose jobless benefits by year's end
Many scrambling to find work before the safety net is taken away
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32677529/ns/business-stocks_and_economy/

Actually only about 10% of the stimulus has been spent. It is however as good as gone, as congress has approved it. I doubt that any of it will be returned to the people, or that they won't spend all of it.

545 PEOPLE
By Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The President does.
You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred Senators, 435 Congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices -- 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes.
Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red ..
If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ .
If they do not receive Social Security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power..
Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They, and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.
Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

This is a very exciting new program. I will explain it using the Q and A format:
Q. What is an Economic Stimulus payment?
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.
Q. Where will the government get this money?
A. From taxpayers.
Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?
A. Only a smidgen.
Q. What is the purpose of this payment?
A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.
Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China ?
A. Shut up.
Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the US economy by spending your stimulus check wisely:
If you spend the stimulus money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China .
If you spend it on gasoline, your money will go to the Arabs.
If you purchase a computer, it will go to India .
If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico , Honduras and Guatemala ..
If you buy a car, it will go to Japan .
If you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan .
If you pay your credit cards off, or buy stock, it will go to management bonuses and they will hide it offshore.
Instead, keep the money in America by:
1) spending it at yard sales, or
2) going to ball games, or
3) spending it on prostitutes, or
4) beer or
5) tattoos.
(These are the only American businesses still operating in the US )
I'm going to go to a ball game with a tattooed prostitute that I met at a yard sale and drink beer with her! Yay!
WHY IS IT ...... IF YOU CROSS THE NORTH KOREAN BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU GET 12 YEARS HARD LABOR, ..... BUT IF YOU CROSS THE US BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU GET A DRIVERS LICENSE, SOCIAL SECURITY CARD, AND FREE HEALTH CARE ?
WHO'S BRIGHT IDEA WAS THIS ? ?

There might be as many as 100,000 people currently laid off in some states, all surviving on unemployment money.
When those checks stop coming and there are no jobs... look out.

Tax money is being spent to provide short term employment for a select few people.
Just temporary highway & bridge building jobs (don't look now but consumers aren't buying up highways and bridges, these are not manufactured products).
Don't ask yourself what will happen when we have enough (or too many) new highways and bridges.

Democratic leadership likes that, it makes them feel useful, they are 'needed'.
(Obama explained this real situation to Biden and now Biden understands.)

*** This is a public service announcement to retarded people still mentioning Bush and/or Cheney. ***
(Children you pick up for sex might be impressed by your 'vast' knowledge of history.
)

Paying people to not work is his idea of 'creating jobs' - more jobs doing nothing (get it?).
Instead of addressing permanent solutions to problems, Obama and his wife would rather boondoggle around the world having fun on the taxpayer's tab.
Obama hasn't done anything to solve any real problems, and regarding the JOBS & WARS issues, he hasn't even begun to address the issues.
(Joe Biden is simply sucking the boss's dick when he says the stimulus works.)

As the Senate debates whether to extend unemployment benefits, more than 200,000 jobless Americans are set to see their checks stop in October.

Stimulating.

CHIP REID, CBS CORRESPONDENT: Well, Katie, that report is going to claim that the stimulus has already created or saved hundreds of thousands of jobs, but if the administrations first effort at counting stimulus jobs is any guide, tomorrows numbers could be hard to believe.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
REID: At a small college in Georgia, $100,000 in stimulus funds paid for trucks for students to practice for commercial drivers licenses. Another $100,000 went for a modular classroom. The school reported to the government that 280 jobs were created.
In reality, not even close. Thats the number of students who benefited. It has nothing to do with jobs.
In Cocoa, Florida, a childcare center reported 129 jobs created by a stimulus grant. In fact, no jobs were created. The money was really used to increase the compensation and benefits of 129 existing employees.
Overall, it turns out the administrations initial stimulus jobs report contained hundreds of errors as first reported by the Associated Press. Critics say if the kinds of errors found in that earlier report are repeated in Fridays much more extensive job creation survey, it wont be worth the paper its printed on.
CRAIG JENNINGS: We have, I think, a rough estimate at best. And at worst, these numbers are next to useless.
REID: The White House says the errors have already been corrected, that tomorrows jobs report has been double- and triple-checked for weeks, and that it will give an accurate, detailed look at the early success of the stimulus.
Republicans in Congress, though, predict the report will be a world- class example of government obfuscation.
REP. JOHN BOEHNER (R), OHIO: There is no factual way of determining how many jobs were saved or created.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
REID: Those Republican critics also say they dont understand how some stimulus projects will create any jobs. For example, half a million dollars to study social networks like FaceBook, and $219,000 to study the sex lives of female college freshmen. Katie.
COURIC: Chip Reid reporting from the White House tonight. Thanks, Chip.
Makes you wonder if White House communications director Anita Dunn is going to file a complaint with CBS.
After all, she didn't think it was right for Fox News's Chris Wallace to fact check the Adminstration.
Why should Katie and crew get to do it?
- - - - - - - -
Oh oh... first the White House hates FOXnews for telling the truth... now CBS..?
Shame on the press for reporting the facts!
They're supposed to lie like the president does, lol.
President Obama.... YOU LIE...!
