I'd like to see how many people know the answer to this question.
No technicalities, no bullshit, no fvcking political horsecrap.
Simple question - what is the answer?
I am encountering soooo many people who do not know.
This, to me, is appalling.

In a word, yes he could.
But even if he did give the order to pull out right now, the process would still take several months just because of the sheer magnitude of the task (unless they decided to leave all that nifty military hardware behind).

Yeah and give the Taliban and AlQueda all the tools they need to attack us again.

The answer is an unqualified 'yes'.
Technicalities, opinions, politics aside... Obama could order the U.S. troops to stop fighting in Iraq, and all head for Kuwait (along with the equipment).
As a side note - I personally do not feel that the current loss of U.S. soldier lives in Iraq is worth the 'maybe' the Taliban and Al Queda could possibly attack again if the war in Iraq were ended now. Different people will have different views.

if the usa left afghanistan tomorrow. the Taliban would be back in charge with in a month time. i personally feel that afghanistan is a unwindable war. the Russians could not do it. the usa wont be able to do it either. but i still say if Iraq had been left alone. and the war efford was put solely on afghanistan. we might have had a chance. but if Obama orders troops to leave afghanistan . all the lives of those soldiers would be in vane.

Let's start with ending the Iraq War.
And my hat's off to Obama for scrapping the eastern Europe missile defense shield. Let them pay for their own shield, the U.S.A. needs to get out of the world policeman business.

yes i have to say. your right. the USA needs to stop sticking its nose in other countries business. without the defence shield it will make Russian officials a little happy. because we really don't need a war with Russian. this will be a war know one will win. we all will die. first thing is to put a fence up to stop illegal immigrates from Mexico from sneaking in to the USA.

I think it is hilarious that Obama is making 'demands' of Iran.
It's no wonder the Iranian leader thinks Obama is such a fool.
Obama's ego probably makes him think he can manage a third war, he's superman!
What's jugears gonna to when Iran tells him to shove his demands up his ass?
(Answer: not a damn thing.)

Recent reports state that Obama does not want to end the war in Iraq.
Obama wants the Iraq War as a political tool against republicans, and Obama fears that soldiers returning from war could make the unemployment rate go up even higher.
Reports state that Obama finds the U.S. troop deaths an acceptable part of his plans, otherwise he would take action.
(The International Olympic Committee easily sees Obama for the political shyster he is, but many American people feel the need for an Obama 'big brother' type figure to help get them through life, completely unaware they are on a path to destruction.)

Josh - with all due respect - if you have something intelligent to say, by all means please say it.
But if you just want to make a jackass comment maybe look into one of 48's threads.
No offense.

My apologies you are so optimistic about things I couldn't control myself. Look I don't agree with you about Obama not bringing troops home but what I will say is that he promised the troops would be out in what? 60 days? He certainly hasn't done that either due to the fact that he wised up or there is something in it for him that wasn't previously known. I'm not for the war to end personally, we need success in some form or fashion. Plus the fact if we were to leave who knows what would happen. Would terrorist now train there? Would the whole country self destruct and be placed in Iranian hands? That would be ironic to be struck by terrorist who were trained in the same country we attacked in the name of anti-terrorism.

Maybe I'm just more concerned because I am ex-military.
But all I heard before the election was, "an immediate end to Bush's illegal war".
And also - a vote for McCain would just be "more of the same".
So I believed Obama's lies, he got elected, we still got more of the same, no end to the war.
(Not only no end to the war, but Obama isn't even paying any attention to the war.)

The commander-in-chief of the United State military just won the Nobel Peace Prize.
I'm sure the troops fighting two different wars under his command are thrilled.

Hey ,I feel left out. Send mine too. Hell, just send this site and invite them to join. Eliminate the third (YOU) party. Then we can give them Hell first person. I'd tell them to their faces that they are a bunch of overpaid, underachieving moron elitists. And you know nothing of tck, myself or anyone on this sites family or social history. And cannot and should not call people racists after less than 1 month of mingling. (of course that doesn't include the time under your other profiles, does it?)

The news sites are saying that Obama will fly off on another taxpayer expense boondoggle to make an acceptance speech in Oslo, Norway.
As U.S. soldiers die in two wars in two different countries, their commander-in-chief will be accepting the Nobel Peace prize.
This is evidence that anything can happen in today's world. Nothing is beyond belief.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Friday that President Bush's administration was "unrealistic" in its dealings with the war in Afghanistan.

So...?
Is this supposed to be a surprise to anyone, Hillary?
Is Hillary in the running for the Nobel 'Most Obvious Observation' award?
(Hillary - stuff your head back up inside of your asshole.
)
People who are appointed to resolve problems, and then just point fingers are useless.

Gary, from my recollection there wasn't a war during your years in the military. All eleven years, not twenty two as you say. There were a couple of campaigns during that time, but nothing a radio repairman would be involved in. Serving from 79 to 90 you wouldn't know the first thing about war.....so give up the charade asshole. And given that you served 11 years......you should have VA benefits, however by your response to your local politicians saying you need health insurance, your discharge must have been such to prevent you from benefits.......Hmmmmmmmmm. Would love to see your 214!!

I was one of the people in favor of the Iraq War - right up to the point where Saddam was captured, and consequently executed. I pretty much felt that the USA's mission was complete at that time.
A'stan..? I'm not sure I was ever in favor of that venture. It might have started out as a special forces investigation, then escalated from there with more troops, but it is clearly out of hand right now.
Quagmire? For sure. I personally think the USA needs to get out of BOTH wars, and I don't give a rat's ass who the commander-in-chief IS, it needs to happen.
(Remember Cimmaron, lol, he always felt that if someone was ever in favor of the Iraq War, then you couldn't change your mind and decide it should end.
Sometimes I miss that guy's funny comments.)

CAPITAL CULTURE: Obamas big on White House gigs
By NANCY BENAC (AP) 11 hours ago
WASHINGTON Michelle and Barack Obama sat one table over from J. Lo and Marc Anthony, and all four of them were rocking in their seats as Sheila E. shook the house well, really the tent.
The latest installment of the White House music series was too big for the East Room, so a high-wattage assortment of Latin musicians sent pulsating, can't-help-but-bob-along rhythms tumbling out of a giant tent on the mansion's South Lawn.
As it happens, music of all sorts rock, jazz, country, classical has been busting out of the White House all year long.

Obama has higher priorities than to worry about our troops getting killed.

So long as he doesn't have any kids there, I don't think he really cares. He's more worried about ratings from appearing on the Leno show.

Got a commander in chief that never served in another rank other than Comander in Chief. Not a good thing. Commander? Really? How ofter does he talk to the General/s responsible for the forces in Afganistan? Not often from what I've heard. Rock on.
