That i am already listening to Christmas music and getting my plans ready for decorating the house?
Or it it just the fact that since i became a daddy and got a family of my own Christmas has become 1000% more meaningful. I think about it and look back, Christmas took on a lot less meaning when i turned 17 and joined the ARMY, I still enjoyed getting and receiving gifts, but for 16 years it just seemed like another holiday to me. But in 2006 after my first little girl was born my whole world changed. I could not wait for Christmas to come. I actually have gotten to the point that i don't care what i get or even if i get anything, It is all about my girls and my wife. This Christmas will be a little tough not having seeing as how this will be the first Christmas with out my mom. But luckily my girls still have a family, and my Aunt Anna, who my girls know as graunty, is still a grandma to my girls. Any way, i just look forward to this time a year alot more then i did in the past.

And it is never to early for this...........
Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the house
Everyone was drunk
Including the mouse.
Grandma and Grandpa
Were singing a song
While the kid in bed
Was flonging his dong.
Ma home from the cat house
I out of jail
Had just settled down
For a good piece of tail.
When out on the lawn
There arose such a clatter
I jumped off Ma
To see what was the matter.
Away to the window
In such a mad dash
Tripped on Ma's vibrator
And fell right on my ass.
And what to my sex starved
Eyes should appear
But a rusty old sleigh
And a dozen reindeer.
With a little old driver
Who stopped to pause
I knew in a moment
The ass hole was Clause.
On Dancer on Prancer
Get the hell off the wall
Quick now dammit
Or i will cut off yer balls.
Up on ye roof
He stumbled and fell
Came down the chimney
Like a bat out of hell.
I heard him exclaim
As he rode out of sight
"F*ck OFF Ya'll,
Its been one hell of a night"!

Is it messed up?

I think having kids do make the holidays alot more enjoyable, my wife and i do not have kids at home anymore and the holidays just seem boring. I've always decorated the house in lights for me and her to get us in the christmas mood but i decided not to that this year because of the amount of hours i've had to work this year. I feel burned out and my wife is very upset about not putting up the lights and i don't know what to do about it.I'm tired i've got enough on my hands as it is. I wish she could understand that.
OOps, this was probably not what the subject was about. But i agree hunter, kids do make the difference!

Morning Hunter and all. Christmas is the most magical season of the year. "And my favorite at that" Have you ever noticed that during the Thanks Giving and Christmas season, people are generally nice to one another? Tis the season of GOOD WILL TO ALL!! If I had my choice I would have my 7 foot rotating tree up with all the decorations and lights, and all of my Santa collection; which includes a 5 foot tall Santa that sings and dances. To me Christmas is for the family, but it also is about birth of Christ and a lot more. My children are all grown now. But I remember the looks of excitement as the big day came near in their faces. I now get to enjoy that with my two grandchildren. The grand kids are not sure what to make of the 5 foot Santa though. I just tell them he's grandmas boyfriend. lol The joy and excitement of the Holiday brings out the love and gratitude for what we do have in everyone.
So per your original question Hunter... No It's never too early to start getting into the season. I have been thinking about decorating my house as well.

It should be illegal to celebrate a major holiday before another major holiday is over; such as Thanksgiving.
Therefore, when I become "World Leader", I will make it a felony to put up Christmas decorations prior to Thanksgiving.
In addition, said decorations must be taken down by the following January 15th, punishable by confinement to the stockade.

Well put Robbi642, not putting the lights up would be a horrible mistake, I guess sometimes you need an outside sorce to tell you to suck it up and stop wineing. I guess the lights ment more to my wife than i thought. Thanks and Happy Holidays to All.

Gotta agree with HW there. Besides my halloween blow ups are not down yet so I can't put the Christmas ones up. I gotta dig through my storage and find the Tom turkey blow up.

Right on baboon....Welcome to mingles btw.....
And I'm voting for HW as World Leader.....because, I don't think stores should put out Christmas things till after Turkey Day....But, I think Jan 15th is giving some leeway......Jan 3rd is more like it

Yes, and he will make beer nuts the national flower, hahaha-
Yesterday, I was in Wal-Mart, looking through all of the really cool Halloween candy that was 75% off....I'm standing there, and thinking to myself, "what's wrong with this picture..." when I realized what it was. While looking at disturbing IV bags with red punch in them, and skeletons at the side of champagne glasses filled with bone and skull candy, I was listening to the strains of "Deck the Halls" over the P.A. system. Oh sure, there were a few aisles up with lots of TGiving things, but still...kinda disturbing to listen to it, and it commercializes the daylights out of things, but what can you do-
Hunter, I think it's adorable that you're so into the Christmas spirit with the kiddies - sure puts a different spin on life, doesn't it?
As for me, oh sure, I have the Christmas Spirit- but it's really nice to be able to sit back, and let my kids handle it, and play the Couch Supervisor, "Put it a little to the left, sweety- hon, don't put the tinsel on in clumps, do them one at a time", "Rick, are you going to hang up the lights today?" etc.-lol!

All Hail the Horse leader.
I put my stuff up the day after Thanksgiving then generally take it down around the 5th of January. Tree doesn't go up tell around the second week of December cause we only use real trees. No fake trees allowed in my home.
I am sure most of us can remember when we were kids that Christmas stuff did not come out tell the end of November, now its out before Halloween.

thats so true Hunter, now halloween and thanksgiving stuff comes out here at the same time, and then at the store this week already were ready for christmas, not a break inbetween. you have christmas balls, tinsel, lights on one aisle and ghost, goblins, candycorn, turkey and pilgrims on another aisle.
Robbi, tell me what he was looking to touch, if not my heart, lol
Mostie, those damn chocolate candy corns were calling my name, i had to get two bags, lol,
HW so those who dont comply with your law, what will they be put in the mingles stockade and have William Hung sing christams carol for days on end, while elfs pelt them with rice krispies balls, lol

i shall stick to the subject.
what i do not understand is usually north americans decorate their houses with a lot of lights, etc and then they take it all down before 6th of January or even just the day after 25th of December, as if 6th of January were not a holiday.
6th of January is part of the Christmas holiday, the day when the Three Wise Men or the Three kings gave Jesus gifts after having travelled a long way through the deserts, following a star.
in the Roman Catholic world you give and receive your gifts the 6th of January as it always has been, however, because of Anglo-Saxon culture getting introduced in many ways, in the last 15 or 20 years we give and receive gifts the 25th of December as well.

YAY for Christmas.
*waits patiently for a moment*
Can I decorate now?
*waits some more*
How about now????......
And thus goes my holiday season. Honestly I think its great and I do understand your desire to decorate for your kids. I have three myself and I get more excited for the holidays FOR them than when I was a kid....
Christmas lights go up the first some what safe weekend after Thanksgiving. I shimmy myself up onto our roof while my daughter (11) hold the phone and worries at the bottom of the ladder that I am going to tumble off the roof. My Son (9) pitches various things that I forgot to take up there, up to me. And the youngest (4) shouts directions. Its definitely an event.
And the tree.... The tree goes up on my daughters birthday which is Dec 13. We pack into the truck with hot coco and go out and acquire a tree. We don't put up fake ones either. And we always get extra branches to make wreaths with. When I was a kid, it went up on mine which is also in December. Tree and lights both come down on the first safe weekend in January.
Its definitely about my kids though.
I love holidays....
Remember, the secret to raising children isn't the discipline or whether they ate their veggies (both important too) but ultimately its the memories they take with them into adult hood. Good or bad, its those memories that shape them into the adults they will become.

Here in the US There are very few that are actually Roman Catholic. Generally after New years day we consider the Holiday season to be over with so thats why we remove our decorations shortly there after. I do know of some people that keep them up tell around the middle of January, but dont know of there Roman Catholic or not.

And i have a huge tip for all that not only wanna save money, but prevent there real tree from catching fire. Swith all yer lights To LED. I have done that in the last few years, i connected a power meter to my main lights outside, the different between the old style C-9 lights the the LED C-9 lights was staggering. Was using almost 90% less power to run the same amount of lights. And the LED lights ya use on yer tree stay cool so no chance of firing up the tree.

Christmas...
A season like no other... people are kinder, more thoughtful, more giving, more helpful, etc. A time for family and friends and a time to bring fun and festivities to the darkest days of the year. It is very magical indeed. Children make all our efforts worth every bit of work we put into it to build strong memories that strengthen relationships. I love the Christmas season but I have to say that it is a time of year that can be very painful for some folks depending on what circumstances we find ourselves in and I am grateful for those who extend themselves and reach out to others during that season. Nice forum Hunter!

Hey Cherry, yer up there in bend right? well if so head over to the Home depot there on Hwy 97, they should have a great assortment of LED lights, that's where i have been buying mine. Well actually been buying mine here in K-falls, but you get the idea.
Another thing i do is always hit the Home Depot and Walmart the day after Christmas, they always drop everything by 25% and within a week by 50%.

btw... if you buy LED white - there are different whites - one looks blue when it goes up - but i took those back and got the white "warm" that looks more white to me so watch the type you buy.

I am not christian
I adore the Christmas spirit and love to hear "Merry Christmas"
Montreal is beautiful around this season, the hustle and bustle of shoppers, white snow on decorated trees, we have carolers and sleigh rides, cold rosy noses, and smiling faces.
There is definitely more love in peoples hearts, materialistic or not, during this time of year.
There is no greater blessing in the world, to me, than having children to share holidays with.
I wouldn't care if the Christmas spirit begins in July.
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones Rep

Just the other day
Thought I'd take a ride
With a Prostitute
Siting by my side
Gave her 50 bucks
She told me where to stop
She pulled out a badge
And told me she's a Cop
OHHHHHH siren bells
feels like hell
had to call my wife
went before the county judge
he sentenced me to life
OHHHHH what a ride
locked inside
now i'm Bubba's wife.
