The Christmas Singing Parrot
One Christmas Eve, a frenzied young man ran into
a pet shop looking for an unusual Christmas gift
for his wife. The shop owner suggested a parrot,
named Chet, which could sing famous Christmas
carols. This seemed like the perfect gift.
"How do I get him to sing?" The young man asked,
excitedly.
"Simply hold a lighted match directly under his
feet," was the shop owner's reply.
The shop owner held a match under the parrot's
left foot. Chet began to sing: "Jingle Bells!
Jingle Bells! ... " The shop owner then
held another match under the parrot's right foot.
Then Chet's tune changed, and the air was filled
with "Silent Night, Holy Night..."
The young man was so impressed that he paid the
shop-keeper and ran home as quickly as he could
with Chet under his arm. When the wife saw her
gift she was overwhelmed. "How beautiful!" She
exclaimed, "Can he talk?"
"No,"the young man replied, "But he can sing. Let
me show you." So the young man whipped out his
lighter and placed it under Chet's left foot, as
the shop-keeper had shown him, and Chet crooned:
"Jingle Bells!
Jingle Bells!..."
The man then moved the lighter to Chet's right foot,
and out came: "Silent Night. Holy Night..."
The wife, her face filled with curiosity, then asked,
"What if we hold the lighter between his legs?"
The man did not know. "Let's try it," he answered,
eager to please his wife.
So they held the lighter between Chet's legs.
Chet twisted his face, cleared his throat, and sang
out loudly (like it was the performance of his life):
"Chet's nuts roasting on an open fire..."

Johnny's Gift At Xmas
Little Johnny had a cussing problem and his father was getting
tired of it. He decided to ask his shrink what to do. The
shrink said that since Christmas was coming up that he should
ask Johnny what he wanted Santa to bring him. If he cussed he
should leave a pile of dog shit in place of the gift.
Two days before Christmas Johnny's dad asked Johnny what he
wanted. Johnny said, "I want a goddamned teddy-bear laying right
fockin here beside me when I wake-up Christmas morning. Then
when I go downstairs I want to see a motherfockin' train going
around the goddamned tree, and when I go outside I want to see a
red-assed fockin' bike leaning up against the damn garage!"
Christmas morning Little Johnny woke up and rolled over into a
big pile of dog shit. Confused, he walked downstairs and saw a
bunch of dog shit around the Christmas tree. Scratching his head,
he walked outside and saw a huge pile of dog shit by the garage.
When he walked back inside with a curious look on his face, his
dad smiled and asked, "So Johnny, what did Santa bring you this
year?"
Johnny replied, "I think I got a goddamned dog but I can't
find the son of a bitch."

Well, me an' my lady had our first big fight,
So I drove around 'til I saw the neon light.
A corner bar, an it just seemed right.
So I pulled up.
Not a soul around but the old bar keep,
Down at the end an' looking half asleep.
An he walked up, an' said : "What'll it be?"
I said: "The good stuff."
He didn't reach around for the whiskey;
He didn't pour me a beer.
His blue eyes kinda went misty,
He said: "You can't find that here.
"'Cos it's the first long kiss on a second date.
"Momma's all worried when you get home late.
"And droppin' the ring in the spaghetti plate,
"'Cos your hands are shakin' so much.
"An' it's the way that she looks with the rice in her hair.
"Eatin' burnt suppers the whole first year
"An' askin' for seconds to keep her from tearin' up.
"Yeah, man, that's the good stuff."
He grabbed a carton of milk an' he poured a glass.
An' I smiled an' said: "I'll have some of that."
We sat there an' talked as an hour passed,
Like old friends.
I saw a black an' white picture an' it caught my stare,
It was a pretty girl with bouffant hair.
He said: "That's my Bonnie,
"Taken 'bout a year after we were wed."
He said "Spent five years in the bottle,
"When the cancer took her from me.
"But I've been sober three years now,
"'Cos the one thing stronger than the whiskey:
"Was the sight of her holdin' my baby girl.
"The way she adored that string of pearls,
"I gave her the day that our youngest boy, Earl,
"Married his high school love."
"An' it's a new tee-shirt saying: 'I'm a Grandpa'.
"Bein' right there as our time got small,
"An' holdin' her hand, when the Good Lord called her up,
"Yeah, man, that's the good stuff."
He said: "When you get home, she'll start to cry.
"When she says: 'I'm sorry,' say: 'So am I.'
"An' look into those eyes, so deep in love,
"An' drink it up.
"'Cos that's the good stuff.
"Ya man, That's the good stuff.

I thought the Cowboys were going for thier patented 2nd half flop last night after that first possesion of the second half.
Maybe they were and even blew that. Couldn't even lose when they tried.
I don't see where the announcers were coming from when they said Dallas has to win out (next 2 games) to win division and make playoffs. Wouldn't that depend if every team they are competing against for the same slots win out the last 3 games or not?

TEQUILA!! To-kill-ya!!!!!
Let me share a story on why Tequila can be a good or bad thing. Depends on the perspective.
It's Sunday and confession is good for the soul.
Once upon a time long ago when I was a undomesticated young dumb and full of... Yes, I was young once.
I was home on leave on a Wednesday working on my bike. A kid (18y0) from town came by and wanted to show me his new Sportster. Wanted to go riding, get a drink. I said "Sure, lets go"
We lived in the middle of three dry counties and had to go to Palistine Tx, (35miles) for the nearest bar. We took the long scenic route.
I didn't want trouble for this kid so I went to a pretty tame bar named "The Dolphin Club" (I liked the marine theme) It was a "local" neighborhood type place I had been in before.
And mor important, being Wednesday, all good Southern Baptists are going to be in church at 6pm. They were and the place was empty. We downed a few brews and were playing pool. In walked two women. One was drop dead beautiful. And the other, well, I don't like to make fun of others, but this one you could have taken to the beach and sold shade. Not plump, just a few extra pounds.....HUGE!!!
And the only non-Southern Baptists in the neighborhood too, evidently.
They came over and started talking and then playing pool. Soon, I knew this was coming, they asked to go riding. Go somewhere and "torch the bone." I spoke with Jerry when they went to the bathroom to powder. Does powder come in a 5gal bucket? This one chick had a head like a 500lb heifer.
We argued back and forth, "You take the big one", "No, you take the big one" Honestly, Any other time, one on one. Most will take either. But not in company where there is a witness.
We decided we would just finish a few more longnecks and a a couple more rounds on the pool table and split before church ended and all those saved Baptists who could now drink and chase each other old ladies again showed up.
The beautiful one was looking hotter and hotter. She was short and when she went for the long shots, Man Oh Man!
So I ordered shots of tequila. About 5-6 total in about 20 minutes. The clock was running. Jason Garret and Romo could learn about clock management from a hound dog.
The only thing was, a small thing, I never took a shot after the first one. I poured mine down the corner pocket before the bottoms up. While they were fooling prepping with the salt and lemon. I take mine straight. GRRRRRRR!!!!
After 5-6 quick shots of the to-kill-ya, Jerry eased over to me and whispered. "I'll take the fat one"
LOL, I'm thinking "I kinda' thought you would"
We headed out of Palistine on US287 to a reststop with cement tables(he was gonna'need the extra support) and I was behind Jerry. Honestly, It looked like a hippopotamus on a tricycle.
His fender wore the letters off the tires. Of course later, sober, he tried to deny this ever took place.
Who wants a shot of Tequila!

Okay....just got in and in front of a tv. No clue if I've missed any good plays. Tuned into the Saints game and I get a commercial. I'm guessing it's halftime. My stupid Iphone NFL app is frozen. It still shows the Cowboys game as not played from yesterday. WTF?
Today, I'm drinking Old Charter #10 and a coke, that's Pete's drink and I'm gonna watch the Saints wax some ass and yell all the obscenities at the screen so loud he can hear me. Then, onto the Raiders - Pete's favorite coach's team. He was a huge Madden fan. Loved old school ball and the more little yellow flags that got tossed the better.
Round of Charter to all...

Bo if you make me lol I will drive to the big D and kick your ass. Facebook is just as dangerous ,or not, as mingles as far as couples go. Fb is what you make it. I actually have a mingler as a fb friend and I'm sure he would tell you my fb wall is not full of drama or posts looking to hook up. I treat it almost like I treat mingles. My spouse knows I'm a bullshitter a shit stirrer and at times a huge flirt. If he were not okay with me being me he would not be here because he also knows im not changing and im not going anywhere. I am who I am here, on Facebook, or on th street. No social site defines me. It simply entertains me and keeps me in touch with some pretty great people I probably wouldn't have time to meet or talk to otherwise.

idk lil Jacy..thouhg i really dont like religious radio,i once listened to a female speaker talking about facebook on the radio speaking of building a hedge around the marriage, and ...she spoke of the multitude of rekindling of old flames,of trying to help out an old friend, and ..idk...cited alot of good examples where it ended the marriage...i think it has done alot of harm, but not to everyone, and not saying people on it are bad,or that it will harm them..just that it has alot of people..and ultimately..about every marriage is on the verge of heading that way,lol...its whether or not people hang in there in spite of it i think..dang..sorry wish i could contribute to the game talk, but im completely ignorant of anyhting that happens on the televison and have never watched a game in my life..so ill just sit back and listen

This game I all but done. One more pick down the drain. I actually know a couple that ended their marriage over an affair she had with a man she met at church. If it's in your heart to go back on your vows it's there. No matter the venue. Fb is just more convenient. But so are bars, health clubs, work, etc. If your marriage is in trouble Facebook won't be what finishes it for you. Temptation is everywhere. Hell I was tempted Friday night. I took the night for myself to deal with my greif. Ended up at a pool hall my dad frequented. I was into his last bottle of whiskey. Had some ugly thoughts about some people. Shot a game with a guy that ended up being pretty interested in my line of bullshit. Could have been real easy. But I know what I have at home. He's the greatest dad my child could ever have. To eff that up over one selfish act would be real stupid. No is a real easy word to say.

"facebook is an aveneue to re-kindle old school romances so that you can feel young again"
If your going to use Facebook as an avenue to re-kindle old school romances so that you can feel young again, wouldn't that make you realize how old you really are?
I mean come on, have you seen pics of your "old" high school chums? *l*

Ya'll just have to learn to put me in my place. I've said it before. I'm a big girl. I can take it. I certainly can dish it and when you do enough of that you have to learn to take it. Maybe I should switch back to beer and stay off the brown whiskey. It tends to make me a little 'tudish. HOWEVER, with that being said....I didn't think I was being anything but matter of fact. I would never dish on Adam. We all know he's a sweetheart. Bo...well, I miiiggght have tossed a bottle in his direction. But, it was probably because he was standing too close to the trash can.
Captain, cheers to ya. Your team did good yesterday. That hurt like hell to say, just so you know.

Thank you, HW. I can re-kindle an old high school romance next time I get my truck serviced if I wanted to. I just got a text from an old boyfriend today, not through FB, sending condolences. I am still in touch with all of my old friends. Facebook may be a temptation, but damn, so is that bartender that served me up last week. If you are gonna cheat you are gonna cheat. The place you happen to meet up has nothing to do with it.
That's the point I was trying to make. I may have been gruff about it. That knot in my panties had me all pissy. Sorry, guys.

I didn't even watch. Didn't have the stomach for football last night. First night without a lot of family around. Kinda hard to watch knowing my dad wasn't seeing it and we wouldn't have the Tuesday afternoon discussion. Kind of surprised. I knew Big Ben was hurt, but I thought he would have better protection and more time than that. 49ers D must have pulled out better than I was giving them credit for.

This way, mylady, and welcome to our fine establishment. You'll be a welcome addition to our already prestigious clientele. My name is skroy, and I'll be your escort for this evening. Here at Mingles Bar and Lounge, we take pride in tending to our ladies every want, need, desire and whim, no matter how small, or seemingly insurmountable the task may be. I will personally be at your beckon call while you enjoy your time here, and remember, special orders don't upset us.

Again, welcome.

I'm gonna try another Charter 10 and coke tonight. But, let's try a red plastic party cup instead of whiskey glass this time in case I get the notion to toss it in Bo's direction. I would hate to make him cry again.

Don't worry Ms. Pamela, I made sure there was a good supply of flax, chia and fennel seeds to go with your lemon and water. Just as long as the bartender doesn't get it mixed up with the sack of wildwood seeds.

You know maybe you should serve miss jaclynlee, several extra empty rocks glasses. The good heavy ones they use for the glennlivit and glennfiddich. Maybe her aim gets better as she drinks. Either way it's will be good entertainment.

Charter 10 = Old Charter aged 10 years. Pete's drink. He used to drink Charter 7 until I made him upgrade. The 7 is pretty harsh.
I left my panties at home. No knots tonight. Round for everyone.

Crue - Shout at the Devil....One of my favorite attitude songs. Right now my Bad Day playlist includes a lot of Buckcherry - Whiskey in the Morning and Sunshine are the loudest and best. Disturbed, old Kid Rock - My Oedipus Complex is a good one to scream along with, Zombie, GNR. Manson has some strange sounds I like to play loud. Stuff to make the windows rattle. Then I switch gears and listen to my dad's playlist: Fender, Cline, Hank Sr...The old country greats. So I go from extreme mood to another.
And you are very welcome. Glad you are enjoying them! Maybe I need to pull the Muddy and Etta out tomorrow and switch gears in that direction.

ooh, shop, I have some 1800 in the cabinet. Gold, even. For special occasions.
CCR rules. I have instructed my entire family that Have You Ever Seen the Rain will be played at my funeral.
Blondie - I love her! Who else could sing about a martian eating cars and make a hit out of it? The Tide is High is on my fun playlist. ZZ Top - Seen them in concert twice. Have all of these in my library. If you need more CDs....

Today, I have exciting news for the patrons of Mingles Bar and Lounge! We have heard you and we have answered! At great expense to the owner(^^^^^), who wanted me to bring the news to you personally, and due to overwhelming demand of our loyal customers, new construction will begin immediately on an over-sized game room! Some of the highlights of the game room will be as follows:
One section for sports fans only with SIX TV's!!
One section for dancing girls of all ethnicity's performing daily from 7pm until closing (Whew!! Am I gonna be exhausted....but what a great sport...hehehehe).
And finally, the best for last! The Bo Show as you've never seen it before! Some of the highlights as follows:
Jacy giving kick box lessons using Bo as the kick box dummy!
On the other side, a regulation dartboard with Bo's nose as the bull's eye!
In the center, a dunking pool with.....yes....you guessed it! Bo as the dunkee! And points will NOT be deducted if you miss the paddle and accidentally hit Bo!
Yes, folks! This is the Bo Show as you've never seen it before or will ever see it again! All of this, and much more, coming soon to Mingles Bar and Lounge, just for you!
We have a lot more space to fill, so please drop your suggestions for more fun and games in the suggestion box, or see the plan coordinator! Thank you, and enjoy your stay!

Hey Skroy, your mission tonight is to find a hungarian dancer for the show. You did say all ethnicities, right? Please don't call Zsa Zsa. She'll just get drunk and smack me.

And btw, local talent that would like to show off their "assets" are more than welcome to audition as well. Don't be shy. I promise to make it worth your while.

Will there be a non-drinker section - or will that constitute a chair in between the entrance glass doors?

I noted that skroy is a most gracious greeter but not so good at answering my questions!

Mylady, I'm sooooooooooooooo sorry if I've slighted you in any way or made you feel less than the most important and desireable woman to grace the floors of our fine establishment. As you are well aware, it is always my goal cater to your every whim and satisfy you in any way you please, even if that is just to answer a question.

Please try to understand, I cannot attend to all of the ladies simultaneously, since needs vary widely, and I have to perform many different tasks to try and appease the masses.
To answer your question, yes! No expense has been spared on this tri-level game and entertainment addition, and there will be a small, but very comfortable non-drinking section for anyone who chooses to remain dry. Also, and I know this will especially apppeal to you, mylady, we are also having exercise balls shipped in from Canada solely for your convenience and comfort!!
I hope I've answered your question to your satisfaction, and if the need for any other service arises, please do not hesitate to call on me. Of course, I am going to be rather busy tonight with the dancing girl auditions! hehehe

That was not the question I was referring to... but thank you for adding the non-drinker section - please have it stationed close to shopstar... the man doesn't always see clearly and thinks people are falling all around him.
My question, after stating that I am a most cautious and careful person was: is it possible to fall in love by first greeting? lol

First....."That was not the question I was referring to... but thank you for adding the non-drinker section - please have it stationed close to shopstar... the man doesn't always see clearly and thinks people are falling all around him."
First of all, shop's condition has plagued mankind and all of its technological advancements for years! It is for this reason it is also a main focal point of concern for us here at Mingles Bar and Lounge. It is actually for this very reason, that as we speak, a very specific piece of equipment is being manufactured to very exacting specifications to thwart shop's condition. Hopefully, it will be ready when the addition is complete. More on this to come.
Next....."My question, after stating that I am a most cautious and careful person was: is it possible to fall in love by first greeting? lol"
My deepest apologies for becoming so confused and bewildered around your exquisite beauty, mylady. I will do my utmost to constantly remain focused and address the matter at hand. As for your question, mylady, I cannot answer that which you already know so well.

Good answer... it was a test. lol Tis true that I already know very well the answer... and so do two other men who learned the answer to that question in the past!

And on that note, drinks are free from now until New Years Eve. COnsider it a thank you gift to the patrons on behalf of management. Skroy may still enforce a cover charge if you're coming into watch one of the shows, but other stuff will be free. For instance, I've purchased several exercise balls. I think its time to put an end to these rumors once and for all. The first one to "have a great fall" has to down two bottles of Soju, and you are not allowed to burn the formaldehyde off the top before drinking it either. How'd ya like them apples? lol

Traveler, in my world that has freeways and streets filled with Scrooges who are in such a hurry to "buy" the Christmas spirit, I concur that Tiny Tim had insight that others did not have money enough to buy! Merry Christmas to you and may your New Year truly bring you something new!

Now I must head out and spend at least an hour to get a parking spot at the mall - each available spot is like dropping fresh meat into a sea of sharks. But I'm good - I'll turn up Pachelbel Cannon in D or Handel's Messiah to the level that all the world will be drowned out!

***"I'll turn up Pachelbel Cannon in D or Handel's Messiah to the level that all the world will be drowned out!"***
Metallica can do that for you. It does lead to the occasional ticket for "excessive noise" though. The last time a cop gave me a ticket for that I asked him, "what the hell does that even MEAN, exactly?"
He yelled "IT MEANS YOU'RE MAKING WAY TOO MUCH F*CKING NOISE RIGHT HERE!!!"
What ever happened to nice cops? They're kind of like Crips with legal firearms these days. I'm not contributing to the Policeman's fund this year.

The policemen that have crossed my paths come quickly to an understanding in the most polite way (lol). My position is that if they are on some power trip - it is going to tick me off! One officer's ticket was not only thrown out of court but it went straight to the top of arbitration before I felt his apology was acceptable. I don't break the laws and so for the love of life - in Canada, they will hear from me if they tick me off!
May I please get a ticket today for playing Christmas songs too loud! ROFL - We would have lots of fun with that!

M'lady something tells me the cops in Canada aren't quite as ummm....aggressive as they are here. If you get them a piece of your mind here, the aftereffects end up on the six o'clock news, and results in you having to place two phone calls. One to your lawyer, and one to your dentist.
Spiked egg nog all around! By the way, it there are any members of our fine law establishment here on the premises undercover, Warren told me to say that. He's the one over there at the end of the bar with the indian headdress and the spurs on. (He gets a little confused when we have the egg nog).

WHAT you never seen a Cowboy Indian before ?
IT can get confusing but on the bright side
I never had to worry about having someone to play with ?
Hell i got in to it one time so bad i shot myself with an arrow
And gave my self a concussion from being pistol whipped at the same time !
I think it was the Lone Rangers fault for having Tonto
And Daniel Boone for having Mingo
And don't forget about that Owen Wilson for having that Indian guy
Jackie Chan for a sidekick too !
{China man my ass !}
OH and before anybody tries it
Don;t even THINK about cracking no "BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN" jokes !

Chuckle...

Pamala,
In Marin County, California, a woman called for an ambulance after her husband fell in thier home. But he said he was OK and declined a ride to the hospital. Sheriff's deputies ordered him to go anyway, and when he refused, they Tasered him.

BLUE DUCK HAS GOT LAURIE!!!
I'm sorry Warren you'll have to watch the bar for a few...I have to see if Gus and Woodrow need any help tracking him down! You know he has a habit of cutting a small hole in a woman's stomach, pulling some of the guts out and tying them to a limb so he can sit back and watch to see what the coyotes are eating at night. He's a sick bastard, we have to get him!!!

Ok anyway, stay away from her meals, and stay away from the last stall in the head. The duct tape only lasts so long, and if someone is really excited we've found out it isn't made by Samsonite. Bo's buying, so what'll you have?

Take the Cowboys next week Bo.
They'll win just to prolong our agony in the playoffs.
I think it's ironic they probably will not have another game in Jerry's House this season. Would like to see them make several playoff games just for that reason alone. All on the road.

heres another one for the jukebox, was trying to get away from all the dang christmas music,so finally gave up on country stations, and found this song tonight ive always loved by tom petty,..mary janes last dance-
She grew up in an Indiana town
Had a good-lookin' mama who never was around
But she grew up tall and she grew up right
With them Indiana boys on them Indiana nights
Well, she moved down here at the age of eighteen
She blew the boys away, was more than they'd seen
I was introduced and we both started groovin'
I said, "I dig you baby, but I got to keep movin' on"
Keep movin' on
Last dance with Mary Jane
One more time to kill the pain
I feel summer creepin' in
And I'm tired of this town again
Well, I don't know, but I've been told
You never slow down, you never grow old
I'm tired of screwin' up, tired of going down
Tired of myself, tired of this town
Oh, my my, oh, hell yes
Honey, put on that party dress
Buy me a drink, sing me a song
Take me as I come 'cause I can't stay long
Last dance with Mary Jane
One more time to kill the pain
I feel summer creepin' in
And I'm tired of this town again
There's pigeons down on Market Square
She's standin' in her underwear
Lookin' down from a hotel room
The nightfall will be comin' soon
Oh, my my, oh, hell yes
You got to put on that party dress
It was too cold to cry when I woke up alone
I hit my last number and walked to the road
Last dance with Mary Jane
One more time to kill the pain
I feel summer creepin' in
And I'm tired of this town again

Mingles Bar & Lounge has it all. All in one thread.
Thats why it's on its (record) 8th filled to capacity addition in such a short period. Everbody comes in here.
I love this place. Big thanks to the Capt. and all his employees.
Wishing you all a great New year.

Hey, careful with the Ukranian hooker. You piss her off and you may end up eating Penrose Suasages for a month. You think her finger food is bad, wait until you taste her toe foood.
Chicken wire is here, plenty of wine bottles to spare (old cooking wine that nobody likes anyway), and the guy on guitar is blind. Am I missing anything?

We lived in the middle of three dry counties and had to go to Palistine Tx, (35miles) for the nearest bar. We took the long scenic route.
Funny shopstar..I never heard of a dry county untill i moved to Arkansas..I went to the local Walfart and asked where the wine was..They said this is a dry county..I said a what?!!!
Its a dry county miss..So where can i buy some wine? you have to go to Missouri..I'm like I have to go to another State to get one bottle of wine?..yes miss..Not relizing i was closer to Missouri then that dam walfart..Another reason to not shop at Walfart..All the Safeway stores in Virginia sold it and all the Giant Eagles in Ohio sold it..Ah what the feck..Feck Walfart and Arkansas..lol..Happy New year all!!!!

I live in a dry county also. Only dry for hard liquor. We can buy beer all day. It's 25 miles to the nearest liquor store. But only 5 to the local bootlegger. And depending on the occaision or what I'm cooking for supper, he will make house deliveries for free.

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne ?
CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely youll buy your pint cup !
and surely Ill buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine ;
But weve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.
CHORUS
And theres a hand my trusty friend !
And give us a hand o thine !
And well take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS
Repeat
Happy New Year everyone. . . have a safe and happy New Year!!

We may have to assist Joe in cuffing them and restoring order again before all hell breaks lose. Put on your "protective" gear, guys, and let's go in....even though we may be putting our own lives at risk!! And don't forget the fire hose - this may get nasty!! Ready???

If these ladies then by God I'm going to just have to jump up on my white horse and saddle up. I won't forget the fire hose. I'm packing heat. That's a fact, sir.

Aaron Rodgers will not play today along with others. A win for the Packers gives them nothing as far as playoff seeding. The Lions however are going for the 5th seed which will send them to NY or Dallas in place of New Orleans.

Maybe Aaron Rodgers isn't Superman after all...I think Charlie Batch could be a star quarterback on the Packers. One concern though, if Matthew Stafford could put up the numbers he did today, what is the Pack gonna do when Drew Brees comes into town?? I know Clay Matthews didn't play, but geez...An inch higher on that last throw and the Pack loses a game in which their quarterback broke an all time record.

"I know Clay Matthews didn't play,"
No Matthews, didn't play; along with a host of other "key" players, including Charles Woodson.
No idea what will happen when Drew Brees "might" come to town, but he's a class act and difficult not to wish him success.
Besides, the Saints do not have "NDAMUKONG SUH", which is another reason to like the team. *l*

Everyone remember to clear a path to the door if the Lions score a touchdown. I'll need to "step out for a minute"...and if the Saints score one, you might not want to be within earshot of Jacy. It could get quite loud. I can see her coming up to people with the head bob going and saying, uh huh, uh huh!

Pats and Lions are my teams. I hate to say this but I don't see the Pats winning the SB nor the Packers. both have D's that suck. I like the Saints to take it all. Lions a dark horse. Stafford is in a zone right now. Lions need help on D though lol.

Stafford is seriously amazing...even when he throws a pick, when you see the replay you can see where a receiver got hung up, or didn't make a turn when he was supposed to. They were talking about "throwing a receiver open" in the game the other day, and I think he does it as well as anybody. But you're right...the Lions need some serious help in the defensive backfield if they want to have a chance against guys like Brees and Rodgers. Maybe we should talk Lem Barney into coming out of retirement, and get Dre Bly and Benny Blades back.
Course it doesn't hurt if you have a guy (Calvin Johnson) who can leap over the goalposts to make a catch if he has to, lol.

H_W, regarding your prize comment in the football thread. Take you packers jersey and put it in it's rightful place, your outhouse wall. You'll finally have something to wipe your ass with. Clean you mouth as well would you? It needs it.

Holy Moley, Spart. My apologies.
I had no idea my response to Mysticct's request for a prize in the Football thread would be taken so seriously.
It was not intended to belittle the fine Football pool thread that he maintains, or you for winning it.
Just a bit a light hearted lampooning.
Given that you participate in football "trash-talk", I mistakenly thought you would find it humorous.
Obviously, I was wrong. May I buy you a drink?

I foresee some ribbing and jab taking at the next big screen event. Can't wait!
Since Oakland didn't make the cut, there should be lots of riot gear, slightly scarred and used, listed on Ebay. I, however, never give up on my teams. So I will be packing mine away for next year along with my Raiders "I WILL cut you, biotch" shiv.
Besides, I still have my NFC team that will be going all the way! Looks like it is time to trade in my Shockey jersey for a Graham. Or Pierre, or Colston...Or Meacham. Or maybe I will get one for each week they roll over an opponent to get to the Bowl. I don't think the one Brees tee I have will take that much wear and tear. Especially in a bar full of flying beer bottles and chicken wire.

Ladies and Gentlemen it is not a time for hating the Packers or the Cowboys. That will be reserved for the coming weeks. No no, it is a time for hating the Saints. The Saints are evil. The Saints must be crushed. They must be tackled and sacked and clipped and chop blocked until they can stand no longer and they whimper in their sleep, "Who had Dhamukong?"...We must not be merciful, and we must stay strong and stay the course. The Saints may come marching in this weekend, sure enough...but they must go limping out. I'm sorry, but that is just the way it is. SOme things are preordained.

To whom it may concern: I was taken captive and got trapped somewhere between here and there in the basement after the New Year's Eve fiasco with the ladies! To make a long story short, the ladies threatened to buy their lingerie at Wal-mart from now on if they couldn't join the Dancing and Entertainment Union and give special bi-monthly shows to Obama in the basement of Mingles Bar and Lounge!! Doesn't ANYONE ever look and see what goes on in the basement around here!!??
Fortunately, for me, Joe Friday was on the scene and noticed something was amiss after the hosing the girls took. The wet lingerie was kinda cool, but it sure stirred up a hornet's nest! I was trapped and at their mercy in the basement until Joe tracked me down and used his superior interrogation skills....along with his "manipulative tools".....all mixed with just a bit of savvy like only Joe can do! Man, I tell ya, that guy likes his job!! Sometimes a bit too much I think, but as Carly Simon said so well, "Nobody Does it Better." It's a damn good thing he's on our side!
Anyway, that's the short version, and after three days of torture that no man should have to try and endure, everything has been resolved......more or less. Hey!! We had to make SOME concessions to keep the ladies happy! You have no idea how very persuasive these ladies can be when they want something!
Captain, if you want me to continue on this assignment I need insurance! And guys, can we check the basement once in a while?? Now, let's get back to the business at hand. Ms Sky, please allow me to escort you around our fine establishment, showing you all that we have to offer, and maybe interest you in making a "special contribution" while you're here. hehehehe

I am thinking that Suh What won't get a chance to stomp on Brees. And even if Drew gets knocked down once or twice, it will be after he lets go of the ball and his eyes won't be looking up...they ALWAYS follow the ball.. I'm not sure ya'll are getting this yet, but BREES is the MAN. The Saints WIlL come marching in and they will march right over the Lions. All of them. Including Dumbasskong.

They have stat sheets just like the pros. It's kind of cool to follow. It started out a a joke between me and a friend of mine, but quickly grew. Their rules are a bit different. I haven't watched since last year, but I remember the field looked like it was only about 60 yards at best. They take harder hits than the girls on the roller derby scene. And with less padding.

I think the lingerie ladies would have a better chance against the Lions than the pretty little Saints, but that's just me...
Alright Skroy, here's the deal...they can have their union, as long as they keep their meetings strictly within the basement confines. The issue about the tassles will have to have more discussion though. Those things don't come cheap, and they really aren't doing much work, so I don't see the justification in buying them. Besides, the tassles stay on and we lose Loveless...he would be udderly dismayed.

Apparently you're not interested, for reasons only known to you.
I have to wonder if Mysticct feels that I mucked up the Football thread, as he was the one that requested the response from me.
I might point out that there was no personal attack in the response, such as you initiated in this thread on me.
Talk about "mucking up a thread". A shame it has to be this one.

Captain, no worries......everything is resolved. Since a majority of the ladies are blonde, after I was brutally assaulted to succumb to their demands, they elected me their union rep. See where this is going??? hehehe
Myst, I know you only have my best interest at heart, but if Ms Sky wants to take me to the basement, how could I possibly refuse??? Ok Miss Sky, lead the way - I feel totally safe with you.
I hope you don't mind me taking a camera along, though, so we can see what develops! hehehe

You have to be careful with blondes. One minute you're talking about cigars, and the next thing you know you're moving somewhere you never heard of. (They have that effect on you, lol)...
I wouldn't go down there, Skroy. You'll go down a man, but when you come back up you'll be wearing stilletos and demanding to have discussions about the color scheme in the bar. Don't do it, man! We need you to be strong!

If there is any further conflict, I will be forced to hi-jack the Stroh's, take the Model A Ford (Detroit product), over to the "Detroit Beer Co" in the Hartz Building on Broadway in Downtown Detroit, which is just steps from Comerica Park and Ford field.
Unfortunatley, there's no games scheduled there, so I don't know how business will be. *l*
Best wishes to the Mingles Bar & Grill.

One thing I found out is that in Nebraska you canNOT talk smack against the COrnhuskers. I don't know if its because they have no pro teams here or what, but I made the mistake of mentioning in public how the Huskers would be in big trouble when they moved to the Big 10 and faced teams like Michigan on a regular basis. For weeks people were pointing at me and whispering, and I was looking over my shoulder. I truly believe there was a bounty on my head.

When I worked in the Detroit area years ago, some of the bars allowed girls to come in a put on a lingerie show with the purpose of selling it to the patrons. The lingerie not the kiska. Can't remember the name of one, but it was the first bar on the right hand side of Telegraph as you were crossing Michigan going south.

Sigh...I just realized we're moving Saturday, and the internet isn't gonna be turned on till Monday...that means I'm going to miss the first playoff game I ever remember the Lions playing in. I know they went one year under Wayne FOntes but I was out of the country at the time. Geez...looks like the radio will have to do.

Captain, that sucks!!! I like Spart's idea. A sportsbar should have it on somewhere, but it is hard to follow a game in a loud, crowded bar. Directv has an app where you can watch it live on a smartphone. But, you have to have purchased the Sunday Ticket package, I think. some of the other providers may offer an app to do the same. I am not sure if you need wifi for that or if your cell provider can cover livestream. Wouldn't hurt to check it out.
If you can check Mingles from your phone, I am sure we can all chip in to give play bys so you can keep up. They will not be as detailed or unbiased as listening to it on radio, but I guarantee will be more fun!

My cell is a government phone. No apps, no camera, pretty much just phone calls. I do get it for personal use though, lol. And I would pretty much be residing in a dog house if I check out the first night we move in a place, although Mostie swears that is not the case. I'd feel guilty though. Nah, I'm pretty much screwed. All the more reason they HAVE to get through to the next round, lol.

Oh, crap. Now that Miss Cleo has given away the outcome, there's no reason to even watch the game.
But, if Mostie is the "good wife" that I know she is, she will accompany you to the sports bar to watch the game.
To alleviate your guilt. It's her duty, doncha' know.

I'm really torn on this game. I have fond memories of watching Drew Brees with his kid after winning the 2009 SB.
On the other hand, it would be great to see you come back Monday in a good mood. *l*
Perhaps Miss Cleo will find her passwords when unpacking?

I would wish you luck with the Cleo prediction, Captain....But, I can't. I have a Suh What voodoo doll being cursed over as I type. He's going down as soon as I find a pin long enough to kneecap him properly.
I can send warm wishes ya'lls way for your first weekend in your new place. Will buy a round and toast to you and Mostie. If the bar is minus intact chickenwire upon your return, you'll know things went south.

Sorry, I was busy fortifying with the tequila. And waiting for tonites LFL game.
Have to get a head start.
After the Texans skin the Bengals, I have to even out the support for the Lions and "DonkeyKong Suh" since the honorable Capt will be absent.
Somebody has to aggravate Jacy and her short evil side.
"Who Dat?" "Donkeykong Suh!"
Good luck with the move Capt and Mostie! Hope it goes smooth as silk.

GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!
Just got home. Missed the Texans game. Looks like it was a good one though.
Had Little Dribblers Basketball starting at 2:30pm. 4 games between 5 Grandkids. 3 wins, 1 loss. Then we went to Edge Country Store for Root Beer Floats, Milkshakes and Sundaes.
Great Day
Gonna make some popcorn and watch this one! The Lions have to control the clock to stay in this game.

It was a good game. Brees and NO wore them down. The best defense against NO is for the offense to keep the ball away from Brees.
Detroit didn't sneak in the back door to get into the playoffs either. jmo
The Texans were fortunate and had a gimmie really, should have won. Cincy hadn't beat a good team all year.

Getting the grill is not the issue Adam... finding a cook to work in this place is the issue! Of course, for the right price... I could be the Mingles cook providing it doesn't interfere with my Mingles Tour Guide; DJ; Welcome Committee; Columnist; Clean House and Mayor duties!

You can prepare the food, I will light the grill.
When you are finished all the hard work of preparing, I will place the food on the grill.
If I don't burn it, you can serve said food, while I bask in compliments of what a great chef I am as you clean the dishes.

Well I am not to sure on Miss Pamela adding to her, Mingles Tour Guide; DJ; Welcome Committee; Columnist; Clean House; Official keeper of the Birthdays and Mayor duties! She has been slacking on all the other duties. I am thinking we need to go much better than a Foreman grill. I suggest a real indoor bbq pit with the rotating racks. We can use different woods for different tastes. To start I would suggest, ribs, brisket some slabs of bacon. All the fixins to go with. I have been expirimenting with my webber on this. HAve gotten pretty good. Sure not like the joint adam went to but damned good.

As Mayor of the town, I would like to make a public announcement that due to certain rumors of me "slacking" on my duties... may I say that to the best of my knowledge I have never slacked on any duties but rather as a great delegate, I have simply put them off to the next year's agenda items!
As for your menu items Mysticct... being my humble self and all - I will second the motion for your choice thus far and allow your ideas to be cooked by H_W. Sorry to interrupt, guys, but it's time to fess up!
I've been roaming around the bar for days now, incognito, working undercover. Obviously, I've been successful since I've gone unnoticed. What no one knows, and what I haven't disclosed yet, is that one of those nights when everyone was slopped to the gills, we had a special visitor. He had heard about all the antics that go on at Mingles Bar and Lounge, and had to stop by and see for himself if what he had heard was true. Well, he wasn't disappointed!
The night he stopped by, just happened to be the night there was 2 inches of water on the floor after the girls had been hosed down in their lingerie by Joe Friday! Warren was doing belly slides across the floor while Adam philosophized with himself about the difference between food and sex. Captain was doing the hoochie koochie with the two-toed Ukrainian hooker on the bar to the x-rated (wa chicka chicka wa) tunes, while shop rolled around all over the floor trying desperately to get up (after his bar stool seat-belt failed) saying, "I'll drink to that!" (It should be noted, however, that he never spilled a drop when he fell.) Pam and Myst were doing strange and obscene things to themselves AND one another with all sorts of kinds of chocolate. Bo was hiding behind the chicken-wire stage doing a routine while Jacy put on her fishnets and hurled beer bottles at him yelling, "Come get some if your man enough!" (Needless to say, he wasn't) Spart was shaking his fist and yelling profanities at a blank TV screen while Miss Sky yelled "Yap!! Yap!! That's right! Take him to the basement girls!" H_W paced the floor back and forth like a target in a shooting gallery tapping his head saying, "Don't shoot! I'm only the guitar player," while wpangel sat quietly and played with her balls. All in all, a fairly normal night in Mingles Bar and Lounge.
So, why all the secrecy and mystery? Well, rumor has it that the news of Mingles Bar and Lounge has spread so far and wide (along with it's countless expansions and additions) that there's going to be a movie about it! Yes! You heard me right! A movie! All this time, everyone thought the quiet guy writing in the darkened corner booth was Traveler, but it wasn't.
Unfortunately, this is all the info that can be released at the moment, since more observations are needed, and the film's budget and actor/actress list needs reviewed. The producer IS open to your suggestions, although after viewing you under normal conditions doesn't really know why! So, for the time being, suggestions are welcome.......and just act normal.

Skroyy... I have decided that Sandra Bulluck will be playing mylady_pamela because she did a fantastic part playing me (or some other women in the USA) in Blindside. I will be taking on my usual role that I am sick and tired of - but good at... management! I will want to ensure that my character is not foiled so please send me your first draft ASAP. Thank you. And I thought the designated driver was supposed to "on the ball"...
I wondered about that guy in the corner, I thought he was just a Lions fan and wasn't used to the spotlight...yes I heard the score today. I'm not happy, and because of that Warren is going to have to clean the restrooms TWICE tonight! Humor me Warren, I need this. The only respite I got today was that the guy I bet against all work who ALWAYS gives me crap about the Lions is a Steelers fan. The first thing I said when I went in today was "Don't even think about it, YOUR guys got Tebowed!" It worked...he couldn't even take the free dinner I owed him in good conscience.

Thank you to everyone for your suggestions so far. Everything has been noted and being considered. There will also be open auditions at 7pm Friday evening for anyone interested in trying out. You can try out for your own part OR someone else's. This could be someone's big break! However, ladies cannot play men and men cannot play ladies. I know there's some may not like that, but we have to draw the line somewhere!

Captain still has no faith in the Saints!! Even though I set myself up for total fail on three of this week's picks, the Saints was the only team I was sure about. I think he made a spite pick...
Captain, you know I kid cuz I care... hope all went well with the move. Glad to see you back. This bar was lonely without the favorite bartender. Your relief was lost in the basement in the entire time (so he claims) and we had to fend for ourselves. I have blisters from popping my own tops. It was a nightmare!

***"I think he made a spite pick..."***
Of course I did. The 49ers are no slouches though, I hate to admit. As much as I detest Jim Harbaugh, even though he was from Michigan State I believe, they played the Lions when the Lions were still undefeated and full of themselves thinking they could take on the world, IN Detroit, and they were clearly better. Their record is legitimate, and I hate to see Harbaugh get the spotlight but its going to take a great game to beat them. I think the Saints might just underestimate those guys over there.

I worked late, have an early double shift tomorrow, but I can't sleep. Why is there no one here? Don't you people know this is a blind pig? You don't HAVE to leave at 2AM, lol.

Sorry, Captain. I got my first night of real sleep last night in a month. Took full advantage of actually being able to go to bed before midnight.
If it's any consolotation, your best vodka contributed to the cause!

Skroy after re-reading my post with the stuttering version of the word "consolotation", I'm sure I need another shot of that good vodka. It musta been some awesome stuff.

Yea Jacy, and it's coming right at ya!! Let's get an early start on the weekend! And btw, jacy, this one's on the house. I hope that's a little "consolotation" for you. hehehehe
And btw, it's open kitchen. If you want something to eat get off your ass and go make it yourself! This way you can't complain about it and we can still charge for it!!
